*Sterling*

She was giving April the space she asked for, but what were the boundaries in that? Were they allowed to talk? Were they allowed to help eachother with homework? Was she still allowed to bring April coffee in the morning? She sat at her desk, rolling her pen around her thumb. She could feel April's eyes on the back of her neck. This silence between is something Sterling didn't want to put up with again. She did it for two years. Sterling got up from her seat and left the room.

*April*
April disliked the silence between them. She would shoot a look over to Sterling hoping she'd say something. She had the urge to go after Sterling but she couldn't bring her legs to move. She sat impatiently waiting for Sterling to return, the minutes felt like hours for her. When Sterling returned she placed a pack of Doritos next to April and sat back down. "What's this for?" April asked. "I was trying to break the silence" Sterling replied not taking her eyes away from the paper lying in front of her. "Are you okay?" April asked immediately after. "Yeah I'm fine" Sterling coldly replied. Silence once again. "Actually no I'm not" she said after some time.
