A kiss of worth

Life's worth will come from the greatest risk you will take.

Who would thought that the marshal's words would made me see an incoming war, so full of chance and change. Instead of raging violence, hatred and force.

"Pero, Bellemy... ang katawan mo." Andromeda muttered. She sounded warning me.

After Worth left, my body's no longer functioning. Every breath I take wasn't breathable, I can't eat anymore.

It's beating wasn't stable anymore according to Andromeda. It's getting slower each day.

My bones are numb and weak. I can't stand on my feet for a long period of time or even hold something. I'm always trembling, I can't sleep anymore. Every part of me hurts. This is something that Andromeda and I expected to happen.

But just like I always say to myself, I'm not going to die. Mark those words.

Marshal remained silent, waiting for my mother's respond.

Nanatili din ang titig ko kay nanay. My eyes were pleading at her.

I know the best thing she would let me do is to stay with her.

"She won't hold a gun, if that's what you're thinking. We just needed a diversion. Secretary Walter is aware that the scientists still have their curious interest on her. He wouldn't expect Bellemy to be outside but, hidden. She's the only person he wouldn't suspect to be on his sight. Especially, in the middle of an ambush." Marshal spoke.

Tumikhim siya. "It's still your call. If you want your daughter to be healed tonight, then take this shot--I can't promise another one after this. And besides.." He lowered down his other gun. "we all might be dead by sunrise, anyway. Might as well, go wild tonight." He shrugged.

"That's really motivating, uncle." She sarcastically murmured and flashed a mocking smile to him.

"Sir!"

A junior officer came running towards the marshal. She's holding two guns on both of her hands and wearing a surgical mask. Sumaludo siya bago nagsalita.

"We are waiting for your command, sir. All are in position and waiting for you."

Marshal nodded. "Give me sec. How much do we have before they arrive?"

"A few, sir. They got warplanes and close combat attackers approaching, along with other alliances coming from different states of the world. S-Sir.. I don't want to say this but, we are outnumbered.." Kinakabahang saad ng babae.

"A-And.. our last intel said, the deaths in the world have already reached 16 million in just one month, s-sir. It's increasing rapidly and uncontrollable. I-I don't think we can still stop it, sir!" The woman panicked.

Napasinghap ako at umiwas ng tingin. Yumuko ako at kinigat. That was too much... so much! I couldn't think straight. Paano nila nasisikmura ang ganun kadami?
