The rest of lunch consisted of the entire family asking detailed questions about Aidan, his family, how much he loves Luca; all while shovelling copious amounts of food down his throat. Basically every Sunday at an Italian household. As it so happened, Aidan's Grandma was from the next village over in Sicily, and she came over to New York on the same boat as Nonna and Nonno did. The entire family loved him, much to Luca's delight, and even Gio managed to thaw some of the frigid energy between them.

"Caro (dear) Luca, could I borrow you and your ragazzo (boyfriend) for a minute?" Zio Giorgio said, as Luca nodded and tugged Aidan along into one of the guest rooms. Zio Giorgio was Arianna and Niccolo's Dad, his Zia Isabella's husband. But most people in the county knew him as Giorgio Russo, Sheriff Giorgio Russo.

"I won't beat around the bush boys, and I must say that had you gone the legal route, you could have had those buys thrown in jail for aggravated assault, kidnapping. "Zio Giorgio started as he stood across from Aidan and Luca. "And that other stronzo, pardon my French... or I guess Italian... Anyway, the other kid could have had charges of libel and hate crimes. In a way you got revenge on them without them having a criminal record. They kind of owe you."

"I doubt they'd see it that way though..." Luca chuckled awkwardly.

"So you boys have to come in, I'll question you, which means we'll probably just sit in the interrogation room and talk about the weather." Zio Giorgio said. "You've already basically been cleared because the Border Agencies and your cell phone locations place you clear across the border when all this happened. And I don't know WHAT those cousins of yours did, but that kid's car shows now evidence of tampering."

"Jesus, what did you DO?!" Aidan glared over at Luca.

"Don't say a thing. Not. a SINGLE thing." Zio Giorgio said sternly before cracking a smile. "As the Sheriff, I'd prefer to stay blissfully ignorant."

"Thank you Zio... For everything." Luca said, while Aidan nodded to second him.

"Don't thank me, Thank your Theio Vasilis. I've never seen such a seamless job in all my years on the force. Every CCTV camera was wiped, not a single house shows signs of breaking and entering. He went all out for you caro. But I guess that's what family is for."

The next day at school was back to normal, though Luca and Aidan did both get stares, but mostly out of fear. News had travelled that the boy who called Luca Greco a faggot in front of the entire student body got into a single car collision with a tree and was in the hospital, likely to never play football again. The four boys who kidnapped and beat up Luca Greco had their homes broken into, waking up next to the severed head of a goat and blood poured all over them and all their family's bank statements, credit cards, passports, social security cards, and other important documents all threateningly lined up on their kitchen table as if to taunt them.

News also travelled that Luca and Aidan were both out of the country when all this happened, but that only seemed to unsettle people more. The idea that all this happened without even a shred of evidence was utterly terrifying.

"Alright, Mr. Greco, you may come in now." Zio Giorgio said authoritatively with his usual cold professional demeanor. He led Luca down to a large questioning cell where all four boys were sitting on chairs. They each glared and tensed up as they watched Zio Giorgio, Aidan, and Luca walk in. "I know you boys insisted Luca and Aiden be brought in for questioning, but after checking out their alibi with the Canada Border Services Agency and US Customs and Border Protection, as well as checking their cell phone locations for the past weekend, we cannot see any reason to suspect them. But regardless, Mr. Greco and Mr. Taylor wanted to speak with you to clear any misunderstandings there might be between you."
