Chapter 35

Hunter's room at the penthouse....

I stared at Hunter as he was busy going through some files, we were at his penthouse, he told me the news of his father and how they have been communicating and getting along really well. Am so happy for him but at the same time am scared, i need to tell him about the kiss. If I don't tell him its like am cheating on him. He sat on the sofa while I sat beside him having my leg sprawled over his laps. Its an habit that I can't just stop, he was massaging it absentmindedly and also looking through the files his father sent to him, i have to tell him this, i cleared my throat, he looks up at me from the file.

"There is something I will like to tell you" he raised his eyebrows, putting away the papers, he turns to me giving me all his attention.

"Am all ears... " I sit up trying to bring my leg up but he returned it to the position on his lap. I sigh "I don't know how you will feel about this but I have to tell you"

"What is it? Did I do anything wrong?" He asked taking my hands in is, i shake my head.

"No.. You did nothing babe" I sigh "there is something I have to tell you, something happened yesterday"

"What happened?" I take my hands from his, folding my arms "Leah" his voice turned serious, i look at him "talk to me"

"Yesterday... Antonio came over,w.. we were ta.. talking, then he kinda kiss me" he looked shocked "but! I didn't kiss him back!" He stared at me silently, i could tell he was angry with his clenched jaw "please say something" I whimpered.

"I don't know what to say Leah... I mean why will he kiss you?, i thought there was nothing going on between you guys!" He raised his voice at the end of the sentence as I gulp, i knew he will be angry. I removed my legs from his laps.

"There is nothing going on between us Hunter, after he kissed me he just started confessing his feelings to me, I was so confused__"

"I knew it!, i knew that guy has an ulterior motive with the way he flocks around you!" he grits angrily, running a hand through his hair.

"He never told me, i had always seen him as a friend, he as some issues that he do share with me I never__" Hunter pulls me to him, kissing me, I felt the sparks, i never felt this with Antonio. He pull away caressing my cheeks.

"Promise me Leah you will stay away from him"

"But he is my fr__"

"Promise Leah! I don't trust guys like him, they tend to channel their attention to people who shows them to much kindness which can turn to something else, just promise me"

"I promise" he sighs like I just told him I would never leave him,smiles at me bringing at the beauty of his eyes, he is so handsome, his jaw is so sharp, one feature I love the most is his green eyes. "Thank you" I embraced him, his arms warm and strong, his stomach is so hard and toned.

"Now I feel like kissing away the kiss he gave you" I giggled.

"His that even a thing" he shrugs.

"But am going to give that lad a peace of my mind"

"Don't fight him Hunter" he grunts, I sigh.

"Will you sleep over?"

"I don't have any sleeping clothes to wear" I turn to face him, he smirks.

"Is that another way of saying you are not staying, don't worry I got it covered" he winks.

"You are a naughty boy"

"No no no... Boy? That's like an insult, you are not dating a boy, you are dating a man" he flexed his muscles as I burst out laughing, oh God... Am in love with this guy.

I remembered something suddenly, i smack his chest glaring at him, he got confused. Well its my time to get angry.

"What did I do this time?" He groans.

"I saw the bills you paid for the other day!"

"Oh that... " he waves it off.

"Yes... That, I never asked you to pay our bills" I grumbled.

"Its nothing Leah.. And besides, aunt never told me, i found out myself"

"But you shouldn't have paid for our bills, first you gave my brothers your car which they will be returning first thing tomorrow morning, now this. You are making me feel like a charity case" he smiles then kiss my forehead.

"I knew you were going to act like this that was why I never told you, don't blame me Leah, do you think am happy with the way you reject my gifts" I rolled my eyes, he bought me a really expensive diamond encrusted necklace, which cost up to $80,000 and he expects me to accept it. He told me the price after I begged, cajoled and threatened him. "So I did what I knew you won't be able to reject"

"Why are you doing this?"

"Leah... You are mine... Do you know what it means to be Hunter Knight's girlfriend" he said cockily. "Let me spoil and pamper you with my love and affection,  OK?"  I sighed knowing fully well am not gonna win in this conversation.

I stared at the magazine, my main concern is the picture of the woman on the front page. The last issue was 'The Billion Dollar Lady', this one is called, 'Her Success Story'.

"Nora Cruz... My success story" I read out, am so interested in this woman story. I fold the magazine putting it in my purse, as I munch my French fries, patiently waiting  for Rosa as she was almost through with her shift. I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the figure that sat down in my booth.

I look up to meet an unfamiliar sight of a red head, I have never seen her before. She looks at me with a judging glint in her eyes. The way she stared at me, it was like I was dirt under her feet. I shift uncomfortably, she screams money and class, her designer clothes and purse gave it away. She has this same air of affluence like that of Hunter when I first met him.

"Are you Leah Martinez?" She spoke out, her voice clipped her nose up in the air as if I should not be breathing the same air she breaths.

"Umm... Yeah, can I help you?" I asked timidly. She gave me a saccharine smile that looks scary to me.

"Of course... You can help me by staying away from my man" she glares at me as I look confused and shocked.

"Your man? What are you talking about?"

"Oh... He didn't tell you?" She smirks evilly "am Claire Anderson" that name is familiar "am Hunter's fiancée" she said with pride and arrogance.

"What?!" I gasped in shock, i felt like my air is getting constricted in my throat, my eyes starts to water. Fiancée?.... When?...

"Oh he didn't tell you" she sneers "of cos he won't, that's why am warning you... Stay. Away. From. Hunter! He is just fooling around with you, he loves only me" she smirks again, knowing her word as an effect on me,her red lips made her look so devilish, she picks her purse, displaying her perfectly manicured red nails.
"Am sure you are a good and wise girl and you know what to do... Uhm... , and besides what made you think Hunter will like not to think of loving you, he has class, he is a Knight while.. " she gave me a once over, again and again then scrunches her nose in disgust to give more measures to her words "you are a nobody"

I shrink back in my seat trying to keep my tears in as her words got to me, she is right though. Why will Hunter want someone like me?... Even her clothes is a big contrast to mine.  She stood up, snickering before cat walking through the diner in her seductive yet classy dress and high heeled designer shoes, people stared at her, she was a strange yet beautiful and tempting sight. She commands attention.

I don't think I will be able to wait for Rosalia.
