Stolen moments

Chapter 7

Emily glared at the two boys as they sat on the couch that was occupied by Leah a while ago, while Leah sat on the sofa beside them. They both sat at the extreme end of the couch as if they were allergic to each others touch... Leah rolled her eyes at their childish behavior as their mother clears her throat.

"So can you both tell me what you were both doing in that God forsaken place..?" She looks at them for an answer, her voice cutting through the silence. Matt spoke up immediately.

"Mum is not what you think... I was dared at the party.. "Max snickers.

"Where you dared to smoke a blunt..?"He said as Matt glared  at him...

"A what?!" Their mother panicked as her face shows concern.. "Matty tell me the truth, a-are you i-nn-to drugs... "She whispers, scared of what is happening to her two sons.

"Mum.." He groans as Leah also looks at him skeptically, she as been quite through out the whole interrogation. " No way mum... Like I said earlier I was dared into it... And am never trying that thing again" he shudders thinking about his experience, just one draw of the damn thing had him saying nonsense, and seeing things, weird and imaginary things. Yes it makes you feel good, but he does not want that kind of good.  If not for the timely intervention of Max and Nicholio who saw him prancing around on the dance floor, only God knows what could have happened. Yes they may fight and hate the sight of each other but that does not mean they don't have each others back. The Martinez were taught better than that. Leah spoke up.

"How were you guys able to get in?.. I mean, you are underage and all, you must have an I.D to enter." Leah looks at the twins as Max smirks at her, he was about to speak up again, but Matt kicked him giving him a sign to keep shut, which didn't go unnoticed by their mother.

"What? ... I saw that... What is that sign?" She points at the two boys. Max cleared his throat.

"Well you see mum, the club belongs to Antonio's father, am a friend to his son" he points to himself "and since Leah is regarded as Antonio's girl, she-"

"Am not Antonio's girl!" She snapped at her annoying brother, who shrugged at her as Matt mumbles a audible "she is not Antonio's girl".

"Whatever helps you sleep at night sis... You keep denying it but that guy as the hots for you, ever since middle school,or wait... Let me recap that,ever since he set his eyes on you,  everyone knows this... Right?" He looks at everyone for approval.

"No one cares dude, that guy is bad news that is why you should both stay away from him... And besides he is freaking obsessed with you Leah, come on Matt we may disagree in all things but you and I knows that Antonio is not good for Leah,right?" He looks at his brother who after a moment nods in approval, as Leah silently pleads with her mum to shut them up, who only shrugs as if telling her they are right. Sometimes its annoying how they treat her, Its like the twins are the first born while she is the second child. She demands some respect even though there is only two years between them.

"He is right Lee.... Come to think of it bro" he smirks at him, Matt rolls his eyes knowing his brother very well he his about to say something stupid.  "For the first time you said something reasonable, you are not so stupid after all... " Matt glares at him enraged for calling him stupid..

"Fuck you asshole!" He growls at him, as their mother cautioned him for the foul language.

"Matt.... Language... Don't cuss out your brother" Matt apologized as he continues to glare at him. Emily stares into space thinking,she was silent for some minutes as the boys continues to silently send cuss words at each other. Leah shakes her head at the duo, she saw her mother lost in thought, then she shakes her head, she must have come to a conclusion.... She thought.

"Anything you will like to say to me" she rests her hands on her hips as she looks at the boys. Matt sighs as he spoke up.

"Am sorry mum... " He stares at the floor, then at Leah, then fixed his gaze on his mum. "Am sorry for breaking your trust in me and also trying to indulge in drugs... " Emily nods at him and turns his attention to Max.

"What? "He looks at them as Leah glares at him while Emily raised one of her eyebrows as his twin shakes his head at his stupidity. He sighs.

"Am also sorry... For causing trouble and trying to sneak out" he grumbles out as Emily clears her throat a sign for him to continue. He groaned.

"And am also sorry for getting Matt suspended... " Matt smirks at him. Emily nods as she looks at them for some minutes and spoke up.

"Max you are going to write a letter to your school and the content of the letter will be the reason why you were bulling a student-"

"What! "Max screeched as he cuts her off then starts grumbling again.

"Am not through son... You are also going to write the reason why you have been absent from school work... And am sure you have a good reason, right?" She smiles at him sweetly... "and you must be ready to take any punishment hand out to you, if your reasons are not valuable "

"Come on mum... " he pleads...

" Uhn un... " she walks up to where their video games are stationed as she ignores his pleads, removing and unplugging the gaming kits. "And no video games for a month" she said as she packs it up. They both groaned.

"Mom.... Please.... Come on mom...." Was their words as she ignores them and ordered them to go to their rooms. They both stomped out angrily, after she was sure they were in their rooms, with the slamming of the door as the confirmation. She turned to Leah.

"Am I harsh on them? " she asks as Leah sighed.
