CHAPTER 4

Walking out of Ben's bedroom with a scowl plastered on my face I slump aggressively onto the ripped couch in the living room.

I couldn't get the picture of Alex slapping Ben across the face out of my head, the anger seeping out of every part of his body filled the room when he looked down upon me.

I have never had someone look at me with such hatred clear in their eyes. It is as if he wanted me to know how he felt about my existence.

A frown slithers its way onto my face.

Lifting up my tan hand and looking at it. I wonder why he treats me so much like a monster, even if his the real monster.

I look at my hand and switch it between my palm and the surface of my hand all I see are the long pointed nails with long slender fingers all connected by bones and muscles with the lines that creases my skin.

I flex my hand as watch the veins stick out of the thin layer of skin. The blue runs down my fingers like a cold river.

Moving my fingers in a slow motion a gold glittery glow graces the tips of my fingers.

Watching the light weave its way down my hand and dance along the delicate skin as it glows with a golden tint. I smile and place my hand upon the jar of flowers dying on the wood table.

I pick up the small glass jar and touch each finger with the golden glow. The flowers spring back to life with a subtle golden glow to each of the beautiful petals connected to the green center.

Hearing a few claps from the other side of the room my head snaps up to find Alex looking at me with a look of pure amazement present on his face. Glaring daggers at him he looks up at my face with a look of sadness on his handsome features.

He comes to sit next to me but I move over. He smiles, "I won't bite." I scowl at him. "But you do hit."

His face hardens as he reaches to touch the flower I have just brought back to life and gently touches their soft petals with tips of his big hands.

"Wow that was amazing!" He says in awe. He looks at me with his big blue eyes and a grin graces his beautiful features as if my comment didn't even bother him in the slightest, he moves his long blond hair out of his eyes and scoots closer to me as I move farther away.

He reaches for my hand and little sparks shoot through my hand. He moves away quickly with a started look on his face.

"I am full of energy. I just charged a high amount of energy in my hand a moment ago."

He looks down at his hand and slowly moves his long fingers before raising his head again to look me in the eyes.

"That was really amazing." I shrug and he reaches for my hand again but this time he does not pull back. His fingers trace small circles around the palm of my hand, the feeling of ruff skin against my own makes my feel slightly uncomfortable.

I do not try to pull away either I just watch him trace the the lines on my hand. "Do it again." He whispers but does not let go of my hand. "Why are you being so nice to me know. I thought you looked at me like a monster."

He sighs and release my hand, "It is just that your kind hurt my family but the way you look after Ben tells me that you would never hurt him."

He moves away this time before speaking up again with a low voice. "I don't want him to look up at you like he did to are mother. You can never fill her spot." He starts to move away.

I'm about to let him leave but I grab his arm all of a sudden and he turns to look at me.

"What did these flying creatures look like?" He stares at me for a while before ripping his arm out of my grasp and retreating back to his bedroom with a few angry grunts.

Watching his retreating figure a unwanted smile graces my lips because for the first time I have seen Alex's caring side instead of his aggressive one.

Hearing a door slam I realize he is angry with himself for being so open with me and not being his hostile self. Sighing I rest my head on the back of the plush sofa and close my eyes. I see every memory and ever event that has ever happened in my crazy mixed up life.

Shaking my head I let my long brown hair tumble over my slender shoulders before getting up to go check on Ben. Opening up his door I hear his faint snores echo through the room.

Slowly walking over to the side of his bed I push the long brown curly hair out of his closed eyes. I sigh and look at the big black bruise present on his young face.

Gently resting my hand upon the black spot on his face I slowly let my healing energy go onto his skin. I watch the big black bruise fade a little but not a lot before deciding that there's not much else I can do.

Walking out of Ben's room I take a deep breath and slowly walk over to Alex's large wooden door. I knock quietly and listen for him to let me him.

"Come in" he says in a small voice. I slowly turn the knob of the door and push it open. Sitting on the sit of the bed with his head in his hands is Alex's.

"Would you like anything to eat." I look down waiting for a reply. All I hear is a soft grunt and I look up to see Alex's face red and blotchy from crying.

I slowly approach him and raise my hand to wipe away the single tear sliding down his face. He does not flinch back. He just lets me place my hand on his cheek to wipe away the small tear that  fell down his face.

Just as I'm about to remove my hand he places his hand over mine and brings it back to his gentle face. He looks at me with his big blue orbs and slowly wakes up from his short daze.

He realizes what his doing and quickly removes his hand from mine and moves away from my touch.

I stagger back and ask him once again if he want anything to eat. "No I'm fine thanks." He says in a cold hollow tone. "I'm fine." Walking out of his room with a fast speed I touch down on the couch again and stair on the hand that was plastered to Alex's beautiful face.

Feeling stuff that I shouldn't be feeling for a man that has locked me up in his house with no escape.

I shake my head and massaging my temples, I lay my head on to a pillow that's tucked into the corner of the sofa and wonder what crazy mess I have got my self into this time.

Alex's pov

Running my fingers through through my hair I can not stop thinking of Emily's soft and delicate fingers running there way over my cheek.

Trying to wipe the memory of myself pulling her hand back to my face and holding it there for to long.

Shacking my head and letting my blond hair fall into my eyes I realize I've become soft with her being around. I also went to touch her hand in the living room.

Her graceful movement and musical voice it almost makes me take back all the hurtful comments I have said the second time we crossed paths.

I should not have let Ben convince me to let her stay but at the same time her presence makes me smile but only slightly.

The way her hair flows down her back in soft brown wavies or the way her big brown eyes make you never want to look away. The curves in her frame make me want to hold her in my arms for eternity.

Silently cursing my sick thought I ball my hands into fist and punch the bed in a angry rage. I can't think such thought for such a horrible monster. Get your head out of the gutter you stupid son of a bitch.

Walking into the small bathroom in my bedroom I turn on the tap and soaking my face in cold water. Looking up into the mirror, I still see the same old me with my shaggy blond hair and dark blue eyes.

Slamming my fist into the edge of the sink I shake my head and look away from the man that has gone soft.

Opening the partly broken door I lay back onto my king sized bed and look up at the ceiling. "I will not let her make me go soft. I am a trained and skilled killer." I roll over to my side and quickly whisper. "Never will I go soft."
