Chapter 32

•Emily's point of view•

Cheeks like ice cubes as cold wind bites me directly in the face, my skin covered in little goosebumps as the night sky looms around me. My toes curl as another blast iof icy air attacks me.

My wings beat but my eyes drop every so often and I take a little dive towards the earth, my fingers numb with pain as my own blood still drips slowly from my wounds.

My chest hurts with the reaction Alex had given me from my transformation, sadness invades my senses as my eyes droop once again.

Sleep sits at the back of my mind, my whole body feels the effects of the change that I would have never believed could happen.

Wind runs through my hair as the dark ground becomes more visible, the desert stretches out around me.

Ova words still shift around in my head, she knew that this would happen if one us where to die.

Lights in the distance single me to where the highway runs through the barren land of nothing. My heart like a horse in a race, my fingers twitch as my mind fuzzes with nonsense.

My own destruction still in my mind as I remember the events from a few hours ago, all the glass that was spread across the floor.

My skin tingles as I feel the dried blood shift as I move my arms, cold air slithers around me like a snake as my eyes droop once more. Mountains lift to touch the sky in the distance; my back aches as my wings take another gust of harsh wind.

A startled gasp escapes my mouth as my eyes snap open, the earths crust only a few feet under me.

Hit tears roll down my cheeks as I can not control my own body parts, the impact is dreadful.

Dust rolls around me as my arms brush across the ground, my cries drowned out as my whole body hurls into the desert floor.

Skin peals away from my arms and chest as thick clouds of dust eat me alive; it invades my eyes and mouth as I cry out.

My arms burn, my back hits the floor sending me flying forward before rolling away from the spot I just crashed into. Fire slowly eats away at my arms and all the rest of my body.

Blood flows from my exposed flesh, cuts fill with dirt as I shift.

The tears that once streamed down my face are know completely covered in dirt, my face scrunched up in pain, it circles around me like the air we breath.

A sob leaves my mouth as my wings flap slightly but I never move from the cool ground.

My lips purse slightly as I move my arms, I growl under my breath as a horrible sharp pain wiggles its way up my arms and around my shoulders. A gasp for air leaves my mouth at the intensity of my own wounds.

Sand tickles my skin ever so slightly as I shift awkwardly. Turning my head to the side headlights reflect in the distance as a new stream of tears flow down my cheeks.

My chest becomes tight as bright lights that could easily blind me become ever more clear in the horizon. "No. No." My voice comes out weak and almost nonexistent as my tongue rolls around within my mouth, the feeling of cottonmouth appears in my throat.

My shoulders shake as I look upon the approach of someone, my mind comes up with the most horrible solutions, must if them true.

A musclier black car appears in my vision as it flops over the hills in the small desert, my back itches as my wings fade.

My sobs turn into panicked coughs as the lights flash over my eyes, my fingers claw at the dusty floor as voices filter in through my ears.

Fear rolls around in my stomach at the sight of the vehicle and its drivers. My back pressed to the ground as I shift and squirm to break from the earths clutches.
