It was a week and a half later and Riley's birthday.
The young girl is turning nineteen today and she can't believe it.
Maya can't believe it.
But she doesn't see Riley as her best friend anymore.
She is Maya's niece.
Sounds weird but that is what it is.

"Cory invited us over to Riley's birthday party tonight. Keen on going?" Josh asked.
"Why not? It is our niece. Listen I'm gonna be leaving earlier today. My parents want to spend some time with Raven so I'm just gonna take some paperwork home and orginise this function," Maya said.
"Have you heard any news yet?" Josh asked.
"10 000 tickets already sold. It's doing good," Maya said.
"And your father?" Josh asked.

Maya definitely didn't forget about her father which she bumped into just a few weeks ago.
But she didn't want to discuss it.
She wanted to avoid it at all cost.
But she couldn't.

"That man can stay away from me. I don't want him near me or Jackson," Maya said.
"Glad we're in the same page," Josh said and Maya smiled.
"I have to go. I'll see you later," Maya said and picked Jackson up.
"Okay big boy. Know what we're gonna do today?" Maya asked.
"Mama," Jackson said and Maya's eyes widened.
"Did you hear that?" Maya asked.
"Yeah. You said Mama. Good job buddy," Josh said.
