What If

NOTE: I wrote this poem at a time when I thought all poems had to rhyme. OMG I did it again! Lol.

***********

What if all dreams and all aspirations were me?

What if we lived life without any regrets,

The bad things we forget?

What if some day we ran out of time,

Never having a chance to see life without crime?

What if the change could start with you?

Wouldn't that be splendid, just divine?

What if what I'm saying is true?

Would these foolish ones still live life,

Where they settled for no one wife,

And with doubt in their dark hearts,

That this is all we will ever know?

Why is if this is all we ever show?

What if we lived life without worry about tomorrow?

What if there was a world where there was peace,

No sorrow?

What if there was a world without fear?

Or maybe this is already quite real,

For why else would it be bullets and bombs that I hear,

If you oh foolish ones really cared about the consequences of your actions?

Or maybe it's the short term satisfaction,

That blinds you and deafens your soul,

Forever preventing the world from being quite whole.

So before you let down that last cannon,

Please take this up in your thoughtless wagon,

That maybe time might just run out,

Without you ever knowing what life's truly about.

Without making a better today,

Without lighting a path,

A new doorway,

For all future generations of mankind,

Oh please let it be peace and love that they find.

So take this up,

Like the smokes in your cigarettes,

Before this very war becomes your own downfall,

Your major and lastregret.
