My Decision

Our steps stop abruptly,

Time itself ceases to exist,

I hold my breath,

Knowing just what's about to happen.

Hoping that it doesn't, my head falls,

Though you beg me to keep it up.

With much precision owning to my thoughts,

                                                                            You say I really like you,

With a sigh of relief,

A sense of longing,

  And hope of mutual feelings engulf your soul.

You look at me,

And I know you're lying,

For what you feel is too strong to admit.

I say I know,

With slight disappointment,

Accepting your honesty,

Yet baffled by your certainty,

Not knowing mine,

I take my leave,

With hope that time will find it.

Each stubborn step grows more pointless,

Disregarding this I've taken another.

You call out,

I look back, seeing your hand gesture,

That speaks more volumes,

Than that of your words.

Dé jà vu withdraws,

Repetition diminishes,

For you have done something that no other has,

You've given me a second chance,

In the act of pleading for one yourself,

You've put to test my decision,

Challenged my certainty,

Letting yours prevail.

You've thrown me off guard,

Your reaction is surprising,

Your character's at its peak,

I've seen a different side of you

And I am puzzled by my sense of slight relief.

I walk back to where you stand,

With wonder of what to say.

The tension is still there,

For I don't know if my feelings are so strong,

Though my actions beg to differ.

I look at you again,

With fear of breaking your heart,

More than I sense it has already been broken,

And though I've already decided; I tell you,

I'll make my decision.
