False fruit is based on exactly what the  name suggests. There are certain fruits that are said to be false or pseudo fruits.  In the poem the poet's crush is said to be this false fruit. Hopefully the analogy is clear.

In all my life I had never seen such a fruit,

So red, rosy and full of life.

A youthful apple you are,

My eyes set on your every detail,

Excitement danced in my mind

Upon the thought of what lay beyond,

Your core,

Your soul.

When I said I wanted something like you

I was just being modest

For my mind followed no belief

That my lips were worthy of tasting you

So I pardoned myself from the growing line

That awaited your presence in utmost admiration

Just for a while,

A while,

But a while was all it took for someone else to take the spot

And with one taste of you you were gone

The flavours enticed their soul and satisfied their mere inner hunger

Before I knew it only the core of you remained

It was too late......

The redness of your sweet lips were gone

The paleness of your raw core prevailed

Picking you up I walked to the bin

Heavy steps,

Suppressing the growing lump in my throat,

As shaking hands held you out,

I let you go,

And you fell, fell, fell

Imagining the impact of your fall,

Matching the thud of my racing heart,

Hands grasped you midway to the ground,

My hands.

I took you,

I took the real apple,

The core,

For I realized what I wanted still remained
