Waiting

Before you were conceived,I knew you
In your heart I placed the tools you needed for life
I gave you the talents you deemed to be so natural to you.
And then you were born and all of heaven waited in hope
Waited in anticipation for another light to shine
In the darkness of the world.

But time passed and I waited,
I waited through nursery, primary secondary school
I waited, I tried with urgency
Not that time affected me
But because I was troubled by the way you acted
As though you had eternity.

And I watched and listened as you sang, wrote, drew, danced and spoke.
I let you receive the praises, I let you have the glory
That you seemed so convinced should be yours.
And I waited for the words that you never uttered
The thank you you never even thought of
The words it wasn't me it was God to enter your reality.
To change your life.

Then in the midst of all the praises
Someone said to you you have a real gift,
Gift? You ask as though your tongue was rejecting the word
Your mind unfamiliar with the context.
You believed that it was only before the pastor preached
It should be said I am only a vessel, these aren't my words
Let them see you God and not me
And It was okay then because it was a sermon.
But I say to you
Your song is a sermon sung as a testimony,
Your dance is a reflecting of your highs and lows with synchronicity

And the things you write

And what you say

All the talents I've given you.
Not just the ones you think you've developed,
But the ones I know are inside
And the real gifts.
Not the ones you mask with my name
But behind it is self exaltation.

So I am here
I am ready
I am waiting
For the day you let me help you to make your talents into gifts.
