There's a vacuum on in Hopes room. She hardly ever cleans up, so it shocks me.
"Hey." She starts to spray some perfume around. It's a strawberry scented one.
"What's the occasion? You never clean your room."
"I'm leaving, and you're coming with me." She smiles at me before grabbing a suitcase. It's filled with her clothes, some shoes, and a few of her accessories.
"Okay.... where are we going?"
Hope walks over to her dresser. A picture of her old house sits there. On top of it, reads "New Orleans." She grabs the photo and touches it smiling a little.
"I'm going home. And I wanted to show you it. We got to start packing though."
She grabs another suitcase for me. It's a polka dot one with light blue and pink colors. Hope makes an apologetic face.
"Sorry. This was from when I was little." She starts to laugh.
"No. It's fine. It's actually huge for someone who was little."
Hope comes to my room and helps me pack up my things. She keeps saying that I need more clothes because there's only six outfits I have.
I tell her that I'm used to only having one outfit. When I lived on my own, there wasn't enough money to buy more clothes . It was just wearing whatever I had found. That was it.
"And where are you two going?" Rafael stands in my doorway. "Your bags are all packed."
"Hopes taking me to New Orleans."
"You sure that's a good idea?"
Hope gives him a confused chuckle. She tilts her head and looks at me. "Of course it's a good idea."
It's obvious what Rafael is trying to do. He's trying to make sure that I told Hope about my flipping out yesterday.
I give him the death stare. If he says one word, Hope will know. She'll know that I'm some messed up undead girl.
Rafael looks at Hope's confused face, the suitcases, and my mean girl stare. He knows I didn't tell her.
"I'm just going to say goodbye to Alexa."
Hope nods and gives me a kiss on the cheek. She closes the door. Me and Rafael wait for her footsteps to disappear.
As soon as I dont hear her anymore, I punch his shoulder.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
He scoffs and brushes off the hit. "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you?"
"You were about to tell her about my little thing yesterday. I can't believe you would do that her!"
Rafael looks at me with a disappointed and angry look. He stares at me for a long time before responding. It actually kind of scares me. He's never been this angry at me.
"Imagine how she'll feel later on. She will feel guilty that she was focusing on her self when you needed help."
I shake my head at him and scoff. "No. I'm not going to tell her yet."
Rafael tries to say something else, but I yell over him. "I said no!"
My lights starts to flicker a little and Rafael looks around rolling his eyes. He looks at me as if that was proof that I should tell Hope. Maybe it is. Maybe the best thing to do is tell her.
"I'm not ruining this for her. She deserves one good, normal weekend without having to save our asses. I'm not going to let you or anyone else ruin that."
Rafael tries to help me grab a few more things, but I tell him that it's fine. The last thing I want to hear is how I'm making a mistake.
Hope deserves every amount of happiness there is. She was crying so bad last night, and now that she wants to be happy there's a barrier.
It's almost as if the universe is working against her. Making her be sad and in pain. I don't get it. She doesn't deserve the life she got. A life without her parents and her uncle is horrible. Having to stay at school and be a loner couldn't have been easy.
She's the strongest person I know. Maybe a little too strong. It doesn't matter though. This weekend is going to be perfect and I'm going to make sure of it.
Lizzie and Landon are walking together when I roll my suitcase by the door. They stop and give me a weird look, and I look at them weirdly too.
They only talk when it's others around or their forced to help fight. I would've never thought that they would be together on their own.
"What are you two doing?"
Hope comes up behind me with her suitcase. She smiles at Lizzie and Landon and looks to me.
Lizzie folds her arms over chest and raises an eyebrow. "I could ask the same question. Where are you two off to? Your grand honeymoon?"
"I'm pretty sure we're not married, Lizzie. I'm going to start putting the bags in the car."
Hope grabs my suitcase and walks over to Alaric's car. He's taking us to the airport, so we can get to New Orleans faster.
"Well, wherever you're going be careful. Us teens do a lot of crazy things. Just make sure your first time isn't on the school gym like a freaking idiot."
It's obvious she's talking about her and Rafael situation. They were both sad and confused. It honestly was a situation with so much wasted potential.
"Make sure it's special." She starts to smile and look off somewhere. She must be daydreaming because there's nothing to smile about.
"Yeah. I, um, pretty sure... I don't want to hear this."
Landon makes a gross sound before trying to walk off. He shakes his head.
"No, wait. I want to say goodbye."
He comes back and hugs me. "Make sure you're careful. I noticed you're wearing your ring. Be careful."
Landon and Lizzie walk away from me while making a joke about something stupid. It's actually good that they are becoming friends or at least less hostile to each other.
Hearing my best friend and brother argue over food or something they read on Twitter isn't pleasant. Sometimes we laughed but other times we separate them. It wasn't like they hated each other. They just would rather not be around each other.
"Ready?" Hope pokes her head through the door. A huge smile is on her face. She's the only person I'm worried about this weekend. Her happiness is all I want for her. She truly does deserve to be happy and I'm going to make sure she is.
