For the next couple of days, I stayed in my room. Sometimes Rafael or Lizzie would come check on me, but they never asked me about me and Hope. It was obvious that they knew. My heart had felt like it was broken. I didn't even talk to my dad because he was the reason for this.
"Hello!" Lizzie comes into my room. She smiles as she closes the door and walks over to my bed.
"Ugh. Lizzie?" She opens up the curtains in my room. The bright light shines into my face.
"Get up. Me and you are going to have a talk, but you have to brush your teeth first because you probably have morning breath."
Lizzie sits on my bed on her phone. The walk to the bathroom is quick. I walk past Hope's room crossing my fingers that she doesn't come out. When I walk back to my room, Lizzie still sits on my bed.
"Lizzie, I honestly am not in the mood to talk."
She gets up and walks towards me. "Yeah. I know all about that."
"How did you know?"
She gives me a pitiful smile as she guides me back to my bed. "I told you, Alexa, I have spies everywhere."
"Well I would very much appreciate it if you kept your spies away from me."
She nods. "Okay." She smiles at me, but then it fades. "Wanna talk about it?"
I lay back in bed. "Not really. I mean, what am I going to say Lizzie? Hope said some hurtful things that night. It was as if I didn't know who she was."
"Yeah. I remember this one when I was seven and Hope was eight she had-" Lizzie stops when she sees my face. "But that doesn't matter. What matters is that your heart is severely damaged and I'm here to repair it. Tell me what happened."
Lizzie is actually really understanding. She listens patiently as I explain to her what happened with me and Hope. A few times, she'll make a sad look. After I tell her, she takes a moment to respond.
"I'm so sorry, Alexa." She pulls me into a huge hug.
"Thanks Lizzie." We hug for a moment before she let's go real quick.
"I know! We can have a party."
"Lizzie no. I'm not in the party mood."
It's too late. Lizzie is already up planning to herself. She walks out of the room smiling. Rafael walks in after her looking at her confused.
"Why is she so excited?" He laughs a little while still looking behind him.
"She is planning a 'Post Hope party' I told her not to."
Rafael sits on my bed. He starts to give me a pitiful look. That look is all too familiar to me. Anytime I told somebody of my past that was the look they gave. Sometimes it was sincere and sometimes it wasn't. His pitiful look is sincere.
"Yeah. About that... are you okay? With everything. I heard that it was a fire involved. Apparently it was you."
Rafael was just being a big brother. All he wanted was to make sure I was okay, but I didn't want to talk about Hope. She wasn't acting like herself, but everyone lies in some way. Maybe her way of lying was making me believe that she actually cared about me.
"Raf, I really don't want to talk about it. Honestly, the whole thing is still shocking to me. All I want to do is focus on this party and have fun. I haven't been able to in a while."
He nods and gives me a smile. "Well let's help you get ready then."
Rafael helped me pick out an outfit. At least he tried to. He didn't seem that interested, but he was trying to be a friend instead of a brother.
