"If you even think about touching Gauri, then you won't know what hit you" Om threatened.

The goon who had suggested picking up Gauri, stretched his hand to grab Gauri, but he underestimated Omkara's temporary blindness. Om could sense his hand, and held it, twisting it around and sending him flying to the ground, in his rage.

"These two are a pain. Lets teach them a lesson" said the leader.

"Shankarji!" Gauri whispered.

"Don't worry, you just be my eyes" said Omkara.

Gauri had an idea. "Twelve!" she exclaimed.

"Twelve?" asked a confused Omkara.

"The hands of a clock, Omkaraji" said Gauri.

"Got it" said Omkara, and aimed his next punch straight ahead.

Gauri kept on shouting numbers and Omkara followed her instructions aiming as well as he could. Fueled by anger, and helped on by Gauri, Omkara's limbs sent the goons flying.

When the last one dropped down, Gauri breathed a sigh of relief. Then a naughty thought came to her mind. Omkaraji had been too annoyed in the car, this was her chance to get back at him, while he was still blinded by the pepper spray.

Gauri kept shouting numbers to make Omkara punch the air. Initially Omkara thought why is he missing again and again, then he realized what's happening.

"Wait a minute....there were five goons, and I think I brought down all of them"said Omkara.

"Arey Omkaraji, how do you know? Look there's another one behind you!" said Gauri.

"I think there is one ahead of me" said Omkara, as his hand stretched in the air, and he pulled Gauri towards him.

Gauri was engulfed in his arms, standing on her toes looking at him, adoringly.

Finally, the pepper spray seemed to clear from Omkara's eyes, and he could open his eyelids, slowly. He looked down at the woman below him, affectionately.

"Mujhe bevkoof bana rahi ho?" (Are you trying to fool me?) said Omkara, softly.

"Nahi, hum toh masti kar rahe the" (No, I was just having fun) said Gauri, giggling a little.

"Masti kar rahe the?" (Having fun?) said Omkara, pulling her closer.

"Aapne toh un gundon chutti kar di, maar maar ke bhoot bana diya"(You beat up those goons so much, that they look like actual ghosts now) said Gauri, impressed.

"I told you, there is nothing like ghosts" said Omkara, smiling.

"But you got scared in the car" Gauri giggled.

"Thats because of you, you kept ranting  in my ear, about ghosts" said Omkara.

"Oh, its because of me now? Fine! Then I won't talk anymore...."said Gauri, making a move to extricate herself, but Omkara stopped her.

He couldn't have her not talking to him, no, that would be unbearable.

Gauri turned back to look at him, searching his eyes for some answer, but Omkara just realized how awkward the situation was. He let go of her.

"Lets go. Thank god, I took out the key before running, and still have it. We've got delayed, we better hurry" said Omkara, embarrassed.

As they walked towards where they had left the car, Gauri said, "Thanks for saving me there, from the goons."

"Thats nothing, I would've done that for any girl" said Omkara without thinking.

Of course, he would have, but the answer disappointed Gauri.

Gauri deliberately tripped on a pebble, but Omkara caught her in time.

"You should be more careful" said Omkara, half-anxious, half-angry.

"Why are you getting worked up? Thanks again, I know you would help any girl" taunted Gauri, and speeded up as she spotted the car, leaving Omkara behind.

I am so stupid, thought Omkara, realizing his error. Did he just compare Gauri to all other girls? What a way to make her feel special! He kicked himself mentally.

The rest of the journey passed in silence, three and a half hours, and not a single word from Gauri.

Omkara sighed.

"Why are you frowning Rudra?" asked Soumya.

It was evening, and they were relaxing in Soumya's room, after a hard day of work.

"I was counting days, one month from now, you leave for the States. We just started dating a month and a half ago" bemoaned Rudra.

"Rudra, there is always skype" cajoled Soumya.

"I know, still, its too less time with you" complained Rudra.

"Rudra, we might have started dating weeks back, but we've known each other, lived in the same house, for over an year, we've been friends for over a year" said Soumya.

"Thats true. Still, I can't believe that I was so stupid! I could've asked you out months ago, we could've spent so much time together, but it took me so long to realize my feelings. In between, all this drama at home, kept happening" lamented Rudra.

Soumya didn't say anything but wondered. What if they had started dating months ago, then? Would Rudra's feelings be so acute for her as they are now? Would they have rushed into a relationship, only for Rudra for getting tired of her, like his other girlfriends, and then both of them breaking up?

More importantly, what was the guarantee that she was any different for him, then his past temporary flings? Okay, Soumya knew that was harsh, Rudra did feel for her something more than just some lame attraction, and he treated her with more respect, than he's ever treated any girl, girlfriend or classmate, but still. What troubled Soumya was whether his feelings would remain the same, when she was away, or would they fade away with distance?

"Sumo?" said Rudra, snapping his fingers, in front of her face, bringing her out of her troubled thoughts.

"Sorry, I was just lost" said Soumya. "What were you saying?"

Rudra gave her a questioning look, but did not pursue the matter.

"Remember we were discussing about your subjects and electives yesterday, you still haven't chosen all your electives. Come, lets work on that. Oh, and I think you said something about getting your course calendar today? Lets see when do you have you vacations. Maybe I can come there to visit you..." hinted Rudra, hopefully.

Soumya was relieved and smiled. She was worrying for nothing, Rudra seemed keen on their relationship. It all seemed good in the hood. Soumya crossed her fingers behind her, hoping that nothing would spoil the relationship.

"Yes, lets see, Rudra. And I would love it, if you could make it there during my vacations" said Soumya, happily.
