They play another card game and Dariya joins in this time. Vienna finally wins a game and Pavel tells her it's just beginners luck until she wins the next six consecutively and he starts getting a little frustrated. He's normally quite skilled at card games, he made that quite obvious the day before.

"She's destroyed you at this one, Pasha, you might have to pick another game," Erik smiles.

He doesn't say anything, just putting his cards down and sighing. He request that they play another card game and Vienna and Erik smile at one another. It's getting later in the evening and Dariya suggests they go out and get something to eat. Pavel tells Vienna she never used to let them eat out and that this isn't a good sign but doesn't argue, packing up the cards.

Pavel stays close to Vienna as they walk around the quiet streets of Pavel's hometown. Erik talks quietly with Dariya and Vienna looks up at the sky, getting a little lost in thought. Pavel takes her hand and swings it gently as they walk, also quite lost in thought.

The restaurant is rather quiet as well. Pavel translate the menu for Vienna and she's amazed at how quickly he can switch between two. She realises that having a partner who speaks another language is a great opportunity that she's not taking. She'll start getting him to teacher her eventually.

Erik carries most of the conversation while they eat. Pavel seems drained and Dariya seems distant. Vienna asks what Erik does for work and he explains that he does interpreting and translating. He travels around, works when it suits him. Pavel hasn't seen much of the world apart from Russia and America but Erik has been just about everywhere.

When he has the chance, Pavel asks that they go back to the hotel instead of back with Erik and Dariya. Vienna has no objections. They walk back together quietly and Vienna notices how the light has disappeared from his eyes. As soon as they're back he goes to have a shower and Vienna stops him.

"Just, before you do," Vienna says quietly, attracting his curiosity. "Can we talk a little? I want to know if I can do anything else to do to help you. You look like you're really struggling, I feel like I'm just watching from the sidelines."

"You're doing a lot more than that," he states, sitting on the edge of the bed and encouraging her to join. "Having you here with me means a lot. Just knowing that I have your company when I need it, that I have you to talk to... It is really helpful. I have your support, that's all I'd really need from you."

She smiles, placing a kiss on his cheek. "And Erik? I know he's trying to wind you up a little but I'm sure if I asked him to cut it out he probably would."

"I'm used to Erik. He hasn't been flirting with you either, which is a huge surprise. He hasn't said anything while I've been in the kitchen or elsewhere though, right?"

"He hasn't been flirting," she confirms. "Don't let it worry you. Go have a shower and then w6e can fall asleep together."

He kisses the end of her nose and smiles. "You're welcome to join me," he says, half joking.

"I mean, I would but..."

"But...?"

"Now's not really a good... Not a really good time of the month. Next time though? I think it'd be fun. Maybe not... Not completely nude but... Sorry," she finishes, laughing nervously.

"I was joking a little when I suggested it but when it's a better time... It, it would probably be fun."

She giggles, hooking her arms around his neck and kissing him softly. He pulls their bodies close together and deepens their kisses. He stumbles a little and they fall back onto the bed, laughing and trying to not look as awkward as they feel. Vienna lays back and grins at him, feeling like she could kiss him all night long.

He bites his bottom lip and looks away, Vienna trying to figure out what's going on in his head.

"What is it?" She asks softly.

"I just... I really want to..." He finishes his sentence with some frustrated Russian and she raises any eyebrow.

"I can't help you if you don't tell me what you're thinking? You want to what? Tell me, Pasha?"

He doesn't finish the thought, just pressing his lips to hers and kissing her firmly. She thinks she gets the idea, pulling him close and loving the way he kisses her with a hunger. He pulls his lips from hers and starts kissing along her neck and she grins, letting out gentle breaths of pleasure that only fuel him more.

"Pasha," she says softly, he looks up at her. "I love this, I really do but we should probably stop. We're just getting each other worked up... You need a shower. Tomorrow's not going to be easy."

"Tomorrow," he mutters, "I almost forgot... I'll go have a shower. I'll be back soon." He kisses the top of her head and leaves, seemingly a little lost in thought. Vienna lays there in thought as he's in the shower. His father's funeral is tomorrow and she doesn't know how Pavel will cope. He still seems shaken up but the funeral could very well just make it worse.

(Author's Note)

So I accidentally made this chapter as forty two when it was supposed to be forty three but changing it means changing the next like thirty chapter names so screw that lol
