When Brantley came back downstairs he looked confused an was walking around the house like he was looking for something.

"What are you lookin for?" I asked him.

He stopped long enough to look at me and say "My hat." Before he went back to looking. I just huffed and shook my head smiling before getting up and walking into the living room. I walked over to the couch and picked up Brantley's hat without him seeing me and walked back into the kitchen with it placing it right in front of me on the table. Brantley walked in with an unsatisfied look on his face and it took everything in me not to bust out laughing.

"Still couldn't find it?" I asked choking back my laughter.

"No. I looked on the couch cause I remember that's where you tossed it at last night and it wasn't there." Brantley said putting his hands on his hips as if in serious thought. He didn't even notice his hat was sitting right on the table.

"I don't know babe. Maybe your mom moved it." I said reaching out and putting a hand on his arm.

"Maybe." Brantley said walking away to go ask his mom about his hat.

"You're so rude." Kolby said shaking his head but then holding his hand out for a high five.

"Brantley Keith Gilbert you son are blind as a bat." Becky said walking back into the kitchen and noticing his hat right away.

"What are you talkin about mama?" Brantley asked walking in behind her. I couldn't help but die laughing at this point and Brantley looked at me like I had three heads. That's when he finally saw his hat sitting there on the table. He walked over and snatched his hat up off the table putting it on his head.

"Hat off." Kolby said pointing a finger at Brantley.

"You're not my mama." Brantley said.

"But I am. Hat off." Becky said checking on the food and then going back to what she was doing.

"Did you really have my hat the whole time?" Brantley asked sitting down beside me.

"Only until you came down here looking for it." I said smiling.

"Sitting right there?" He asked pointing to the spot in front of me.

"Yes I didn't move it from this spot since I got it off the couch." I said.

"And I didn't see it." Brantley said more to himself then to me.

"It's okay BrantBear. That's what happens when you get old." I said rubbing his arm. That earned me a glare and I couldn't help but laugh.

"You're only three years younger than me." Brantley said.

"I know but I'm not the one who didn't see a hat right in front of my face." I said trying not to laugh.

"Hahaha." Brantley said sarcastically.

"Awe don't be so grumpy." I said poking out my bottom lip; Brantley just looked at me.

"Y'all are gross. I'm goin to help mama." Kolby said getting up and going to help Becky with whatever it was she was doing.

"Gross? What the hell did we do?" I asked Brantley. Brantley just shrugged and checked on the food for Becky.

"Mama! It's done." Brantley called out to Becky turning the stove off. She was making one of those ham slices or whatever with sausage and eggs.

"Thank you dear." Becky said walking in and taking over. She made our plates for us against our protests of us being able to do that ourselves. I ended up giving my sausage to Brantley because I got full after eating my ham and eggs. When breakfast over Brantley and I did the dishes while Kolby went outside to cut the grass. We found out that that's why he was awake before ten in the morning. When we finished up with the dishes we went and sat on the back deck with Becky for a little while.

"Carter Mae I don't think I've ever seen you smile so much." Becky said looking at me. If you haven't figured it out yet Becky likes to use my full name.

"Guess I've got something to smile about." I said looking over at Brantley. I saw a smile ghost across his face and he looked down slightly. He's too freakin cute I swear.

"It looks very good on you and if that smile goes away he'll have a foot up his butt." Becky said looking at Brantley who looked up.

"What if it's not because of me?" Brantley said.

"Then you better fix it." Becky said.

"He always does." I said leaning my head on his shoulder and slipping my arm under his to hold his hand. I felt him kiss the side of my head and if it was possible my smile got even bigger.
