I wondered if he noticed me throwing up every morning or my growing stomach. I guess not since he's been blind drunk every time he came home. I cannot believe I was five weeks pregnant and he seemed to not even notice. He's been so emotional and clingy lately which was strange since I was the one who is pregnant.

My thoughts were once again interrupted when my mobile phone rang. I checked the caller id and the person calling me managed to put a smile on my face which is saying something because he is my boss and everyone knows your boss is not your best friend especially when you've dated them in high school.

"Hey Jackson." I sounded like I haven't seen him in forever. I answered with a smile on my face.

"Hey, are you coming in late today, again?" He asked.

"Surprisingly, I'm going to be early today." I said.

"I got a head start." I told him with a smile on my face.

"Since you're going to be early, maybe we can meet in Starbucks and have coffee? What do you say?" He said.

"I would love too..." I said. I looked in my rear view mirror around and saw another car behind. "...but I got a lot of paperwork that needs to be filled out, maybe next time?"

"Yeah, sure." He said. With a disappointing tone in his voice I sighed a bit and he hung up. Derek told me the only reason I even got this job was because Jackson stilled loved me and thought this would bring us closer.

I slowly drove up to the building and turned into the employee's parking lot. I made sure I had everything then I got out the car. I began to walk into the large office building, I took the elevator and as I walk passed the front desk my assistant stopped me.

"Yes, what is it?" I turned around and answered her.

"Uh, you have three missed calls from Mr. Hale." She said.

"What is wrong with this guy? He's so needy. This is getting old very quickly. I swear..." I started walking to my office. "Alright, thanks for telling me." I quickly dropped my things on the chair and ran towards my office phone. I quickly dialled my home number and prayed Derek would pick it. It took a while before he did.

When he did I asked him. "What do you want?!"

"Hey, baby. What's with the attitude?" He said calmly.

"Oh sorry, I don't know what got into me just then." I said in a smooth tone.

"Maybe I'm from a different time or something." I smiled.

"You should have been in your office ten minutes ago." He said. "What have you been doing?"

"I ran into a bit of traffic on my way here. I was also thinking about some things too." I told him.

"Really? I could tell. You seem different went you left." He said. "What's wrong? Is it Lyd...?"

"No, everything's great." I said.

"O-okay, Whatever." He said and with that he hung up. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. I leaned back into my chair and sighed. I got up then sat back down again. I don't know. Something wasn't right. I placed my head gently on my desk. My mind was going a mile a minute at this point. Derek was driving me insane. I didn't want to go home tonight. How much more of this will I take before I either kill him or walk away? I thought.

*Knock knock*

I looked up from my desk and saw Jackson leaning on my door. I really didn't want to see him now not after I said no to him. "May I come in?" He asked.

I looked at him before I said. "Yeah, sure. You own the place don't you? Why would my opinion count?" He looked at me and smiled as he entered.

"What's with the attitude?" He asked. He pointed to my face. "Is there a particular reason you are wearing shades on a cloudy day like this?"

"Oh, nothing. I totally forgot I even had them on." I said. I chuckled a bit and took them off.

"Woah, what the fuck happened to your eye?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"Your eye. It's bruised. Did something happen?" He said.

"No, it's..." I said. He stared at me. "I mean thankfully; it was fading now. Nothing calm down, I just tripped and my eye hit the coffee table the night I was..."

"So, are you just going to continue to lie or are you going to just tell me the truth?" He asked as he sat on my desk.
