Pulling Heart Strings

Chapter 80

Rose's pov.

After a long work day I drove home. Stephen was so caring since he found out I was carrying his daughter. Also he told me not to come to the meeting since I should be resting. Only because I'm pregnant.

I'm wondering if it's just because of the baby. Ok ofcource it is. That could be nothing serious between us since he's engaged. But I'm glad that atleast my daughter will be able to be with her father.

I really hope he doesn't change his mind about her. I don't care about me but as long as she's happy I'm happy. I decided to go over to Mae's. I felt like telling her everything that had happened today.

When I walked into her apartment with the spare key I had and heard tv sound from the living room. I kicked of my shoes and walked into the living room and saw Mae and Jade making out passionately on the sofa.

"Guys go get a bedroom." I shouted rolling my eyes. Jade jumped of Mae. "Woman learn to knock." Jade scoffed as he put his shirt back on. "Seriously Rose?" Mae groaned in frustration.

Soon both of the made themselves look decent. "I'm out for a while. And Rose if you ever walk in like that I'm gonna kill you." Jade scoffed and left after kissing his girlfriend. I rolled my eyes

After he left we got ourselves some ice cream and sat down on the sofa. We decided to turn on a movie and u told her I have to talk. She seemed really excited about what I'm gonna say.

"So you wanted to tell me something." She said stuffing as spoon of ice in her mouth. "Ya know Stephen was there today right and he..." I filled her in for what felt like hours. She seemed pretty shocked. And started blabbering something.

"But be careful with him. He has hurt you more than once." She stated. " I know I'm just letting him get close because of my daughter. I don't want her to grow up without her real father. And we don't have to be together only because we have a child." I shrugged stuffing the last spoon of ice.

Although at some point of view I do wish we were a real family. "Ya babe. I know but please be careful." I nodded. Then we talked for a few more hours until I decided to go back home.

When I came home Matt was out. He left a message saying he was going out with some old friends. But I'm glad that Matt and I are working things out because he's a really great guy. So genuine and caring.

After a while of thinking I drifted into a deep sleep. And after a long time I slept peacefully.

The next day...

I put on a floral long sleeve dress and a pair of sandles. I wasn't able to fit into my formal clothes since they used to be super tight. Stephen was right about the part that I'm too fat to fit into those stuff.

When I arrived at the office Stephen was already in his cabin. He had called me to know his schedule. After telling his it he insisted that I stayed with him.

"So how are you today?" He asked scanning the file in his hand. "I'm fine. Actually really good." I said as I looked down and rubbed my stomach. His eyes shot up from the file and he shot me one of his charming smile. "I'm glad." He said showing his beautiful dimple and pearly teeth.

"And thanks for accepting her." I said as I leaned back into the chair. He motioned me to come over to him. I slowly and hesitantly got up from my chair and moved over. He patted on his lap and I gave him a quizzical look. "Just sit down."

I sat down as he placed his arms around my waist. I was basically straddling him. "You know I'm not a heartless piece of shit as you might think. I could never abandon my child my own blood. And since you're the mother of my child I would never abandon you." He rubbed my lower back.

"Thank you but what are we gonna do? I mean you're engaged and I don't wanna come into your relationship." I'm honest. Eventhough I wish I could be with him. I can't be selfish.

"I dunno. I mean I can't hide it from her forever. But for now we'll just keep it between us ok?" I sighed. I kinda felt bad. I mean he wants to keep her a secret.

"Hey I know you don't want to hide it but please love give me some time. I mean it's also a shock for me. It's not daily that you're ex girlfriend is pregnant with you child while you're engaged." I giggle but it was a painful one.

"I promise you. Our daughter is gonna have a happy life." That sounded good. Our daughter. "Thank you." I rested my head on his chest as he pulled me closer.

I really wish my life could finally become normal again. I loved high school. No drama just pure fun. But now I'm 26 and pregnant. I'm not too old or anything but my life is just a mess right now.

"Ok how about I take you out this weekend? " He asked. I lifted my head and raised an eyebrow. "Friendly of course." I giggled. "Why not?" I said and he smiled at me.

The rest of the day went by pretty fast. I spent the first few hours with talking and catching up with Stephen. Also he insistited on coming to all future ultrasound check up since he hadn't even been to one.

It was like as if all the drama was gone and I could just enjoy the pregnancy. Without having to constantly worry about everything. I knew this wasn't even the end of the drama but it was the beginning of something.
