"I am not sure what to feel about anything anymore. I'm not even sure who I am, but when I am with you, everything makes sense and I feel more like myself than I have ever been."

Nick and Maya hadn't talked in over a week. She assumed that it was him trying to give her space so she could grieve her friend's death, but she didn't want the space. She, however, wasn't willing to tell him that. Asking for help was never something that Maya was good at.

Maya was at home when she got a text from McGee. The text read, 'two gunman at my apt. I'm fine.'
Maya had to reread the text, the way it was worded seemed like it was no big deal. Maya shook her head and called him. "Maya?" He answered immediately.

"What the hell happened?" Maya asked, but she had already picked up her keys and was walking out the door.

"I'm fine," he paused, "two guys broke in. Gibbs are coming. I killed one of them and grazed the other before he got away."

"You can give me details when I get there," Maya sighed, "I'll be there in 10." She didn't wait for him to answer, she ended the call and sped to Tim's apartment.

When Maya got there, the cops and the NCIS team was already there, "Gibbs, Did you call Leon?"

"Just hung up the phone with him," he said. Maya nodded and assessed the place. It looked like a break in except the floors were pulled up. The place looked totally destroyed. She spotted Nick too.

"Ducky and Jimmy are on their way," Bishop tells the group.

"McGee, there were 2 of them?" Gibbs asked and Maya's gaze went to Tim. He was being checked my a paramedic and had an ice packet on his head.

"Yeah, one of them got away, but I grazed him," Tim replied.

"Check local hospitals for recent gunshot wounds," Gibbs instructs.

Nick had stood up from where he was crouching by the body, "no wallet. But a print scanned IDs him as Louis Cole, a recent parolee."

"No stolen goods on him, I wonder what the other guy made out with," Quinn says.

"I don't even care," McGee says, "I'm just happy that Delilah was in Dubai on assignment. I mean, if she would have walked in on these guys, would've been a lot worse."

"You haven't called her yet?" Maya found herself asking.

"No, it's too early there. Plus, I'm not really looking forward to telling her anyway," Tim replies, looking over at Maya.

"Yeah, but she would want to know that you're okay," Maya replies.

"That'll help, but it's not gonna make her happy. I mean it's bad enough this place is trashed. It's gonna take a lot of sage burning to make that okay," McGee says, nodding toward the dead guy.

"Oh, she won't mind too much, right? I'm sure she'll get over it real quick. I mean, it's not like it's the first dead body this apartment has seen," Nick says, chuckling.
