Danily Family ~ Baby Number 3

15- An interesting Dinner

"We're pregnant!" Daniel exclaimed.

Victoria looked up; disgusted with what she'd just heard.

"So the rumors were true?" She asked.

"I'm 16 weeks today," Emily smiled.

"That's wonderful news," Conrad smiled.

"Thank you dad," Daniel smiled.

"Baby bump yet?" He questioned.

Emily nodded and Conrad gestured for her to show. Emily smiled and stood up. She lifted the loose top to reveal the tight black singlet covering her baby bump.

"Wonderful," Conrad smiled.

Emily smiled in return and sat back down.

Victoria grunted, evidently not thinking it was to wonderful.

Daniel looked awkwardly to Emily who put another mouthful of food into her mouth as she looked down at the plate in front of her.

"Was it a mistake?" Victoria asked bluntly.

"Does it matter?" Emily asked.

"Well can the two of you even handle another baby?"

"We can make our own decisions Victoria. We don't need your input."

"How can a third child be anything other than a mistake?"

"Well I don't know Victoria,"Conrad spoke up. "After all isn't Charlotte your third child?"

Both Daniel, Emily, Charlotte and Victoria looked up at Conrad.

"Dad what are you talking about?" Charlotte asked.

"Your mother has another son. Older than you Daniel." He said. Then he looked to Victoria. "That's right Victoria, I know about your darling Patrick. I know you left him when you were 16. I know that you've been keeping in contact with him in the past year."

He chuckled slightly.

"Charlotte and Daniel....meet your brother Patrick."

Conrad gestured to the doorway and a man walked through. He looked a few years older than Daniel with light brown hair. He was thin and muscular and he studied all the faces sitting around the table. Even Thomas and Tayla went quiet and looked at the man standing in front of them.

Patrick and Emily recognized each other instantly and she shot him a warm smile.

"Patrick," she smiled.

"It's been a long time. How have you been?"

"I've been well thank you," she smiled. "Nolan will be happy you're here."

He chuckled and nodded.

"I've already been over to see him..."

"Hold on a moment," Daniel said. "Emily how do you know my brother?"

"Uh...well I guess it's better if Patrick tells you. I might take the kids home."

Emily wiped her mouth with the napkin and then stood up.

"Emily you're pregnant?" Patrick asked.

"16 weeks," she smiled rubbing her stomach.

"Please stay."

"Uh...I wouldn't want to impose. This is your family."

"It's your family too Em," Daniel said.

She sighed and sat back down.

"Patrick," Victoria whispered.

He looked away from Emily and over to Victoria.

"Mother," he replied.

"I-it's s-so good t-to finally m-meet you."

He nodded and walked over to the seat next to her and sat down letting her take his hand.

"Mummy," Thomas said quietly.

"What's wrong darling?" Emily replied.

"Can I please have a drink."

She stood up from the table and walked over to the side table to pour him a glass of water.

"Patrick how do you know my wife?" Daniel asked.

"Oh...you two..." He pointed from Daniel over to Emily.

"We've been married for just over 5 years," Emily replied sitting back down. She turned to Daniel, "Patrick and I met years ago. It was just after I left juvie and I was staying with Nolan."

"How do you know Nolan?"

"Uh well....um..." He said awkwardly.

"Patrick they won't judge you. I know them, they'll be fine with it," Emily said.

"I'm gay. Nolan and I were gay together," he said.

"Gay," Daniel chuckled.

"Daniel," Emily gritted her teeth and kicked him under the table.

Patrick bit his lip and Emily shook her head.

"Sorry. The only person that will judge is my idiotic husband," she sighed.

"Sorry," Daniel said clearing his throat.

"I've seen worse reactions. Don't worry about it," he replied.

Emily looked up at the clock and then over to Victoria and Patrick.

"Daniel we really should go. Give your mother and Patrick some time," Emily said.

"Alright.""It was lovely to see you again Patrick," Emily smiled.

"Yeah you too," he replied. "See you soon I guess."
