Subject: If a turkey roasts in Mexico...
To: grace-k-nelson@bethel.eduI think I'm going to Pastora Elena's (the sister of the pastor I first met) for Thanksgiving. I forgot to mention that had invited some people, including me. I don't know all the people, and I don't know her that well, but it seems like the best option.
I just learned that some of the students are going home (back to the US) for Thanksgiving. My initial reaction was, "That's cheating!" I guess I was equating a semester abroad to an season of Survivor, or something. They're not cheating, they're just spending a lot of money to spend four days at home, a month before we go back anyway. But I can see the appeal.
Anyway. I will have to see what I can do to contribute. It is hard to get some of the main stuff here, and awkward to try to cook in Señora's kitchen. Maybe I'll just see if I can find some baby dill pickles to remind myself of my Grandma's omnipresent relish tray.
