- this final chapter is a bit more gruesome but it needed to be written i've read fics where they come back after one night and are hooking up or kissing or some dramatic love declaring. In my mind it would be so long and they have so much to fall about until any of that can happen so that's where this part comes in lmk what you think
She then felt her knees go out from under her and remembered the last time she ate anything was a good 30 hours ago
Toby looked at her "spence?"
"Oh my god spencer " he rushed towards her now falling figure
he caught her waist and her chest in his arms and gently set her down he held her head as she lay on the ground shaking she looked up at him he held her in a way he hadn't done in years.
He gave her food and and coffee ( she declined water ) and gently sat her up
" Spencer " she looked at him her eyes hollow he didn't know if this was he right time to bring this up but it he didn't now it would never happen.
"Spence why can't you sleep in that bed ? " his voice was shaking as he asked her.
He felt like he knew the answer he knew about alex he could see from the moment he hugged spencer that there 2 hook ups were alex.. he handnt felt this used and violated in so long and he knew that the second her eyes met his she knew.
"Toby did alex ever come and ...." her voice trailed off she didn't know how to look at him or how to even discuss this
"i'm so so " she didn't even know how to talk to him about this
the trauma that he went though with jenna she knew that had changed him yet she didn't know how until she saw him that morning at the brew still haunted by jenna trying to kiss him post breakup.
But this? to think alex had slept with him not once but twice and all the times he must have touched her or she touched him or words he told alex that were meant for her she couldn't even think straight.
It was as if her worst nightmares were her reality he was used and assaulted in a way that she didn't even know was possible and he was unaware and he was manipulated. he was raped the word stuck out like a bullet in her skin she let this happen she led him on too much she had caused this all of it.
Then there was the reasons he believed it was her. She knew and he knew that there was something between them a spark that never quite died down since the moment they hugged almost 2 years ago and he was with yvvone and she and caleb were a thing she felt this tension by him
like being by him would always bring her back to a safe place. like he could be her safe place her home her everything.
No words were said that night no kisses shared no wild reunion just them in peace and in calm and that night she wanted him to hold her and in her arms she finally felt safe for the first time in years.
She knew she wanted something still with him something but it would take time and tears and moments and things she couldn't deliver right now.
But right now for the first time in 8 years since he had walked out her door and told her goodbye something felt at calm something felt new unique.
She let him set her down on the couch and he slipped off his shirt and lay next to her and it wasn't romantic it wasn't platonic but they learnt there yet and maybe it would be months days even years before they could be right again but she knew she knew
she wanted this.
