Chapter Three

I couldn't get her out my head and when I finally did she'd show up or say something. It had been weeks now and whenever she saw me in the morning she'd say hi and then help Robert get his stuff ready for school. And s'morning Robert was considerably agitated while Ashby was hovering around him like she was searching for something, perhaps a normal brother but the one time I decided to have cereals meaning I was stuck here slightly longer than normal and he just had be like this; his eyes looked even darker today and lack of sleep was written all over his face, the moon crescents he held looked like they were taking up all his eyes, his skin was paler than usual.                                                                                                                                                                  "Where did you leave your Chem book, Rob?" Her voice sung but it had such a more mature tone to it in the morning and around Robert.                                                                                                                    "Up your anus" He grunted back which cause me to almost spray my cereal across the dining table but I found myself now choking to try and cover up the laugh I wanted to release. Maybe he wasn't so average then. I could even feel myself perhaps getting along with this kid in actual fact. He just needed to learn who he could say that type of shit too because it certainly wasn't her.                                                                                                                                                                                        Ashby sighed not amused by that comment or my reaction most likely because I admit I hadn't hid it very well but she brushed it off and continued searching for his book instead.                      Why she didn't leave him to find it himself I didn't understand because how would he learn his lesson otherwise? It was obviously not the first time he'd said something like this either. Ashby pushed a few strands of hair from her face back into the high ponytail she did today, which just showed how formed her face was and how features her jaw was. She wasn't wearing her jumper yet and the sleeveless, white material of her polo shirt was thin and the couple buttons at the top were undone and as perverted as it sound, I hope she would bend down in my direction.       It was tucked into her grey skirt and the socks were above her knees again. Normally in this situation Jaynie would help her but she had gone out shopping early s'morning because everyone liked certain things; being the normal, snobby freaks they were.                                            Ashby on the other hand, looked tired as well, her skin wasn't so radiant as before. Instead she looked knackered and I wish she'd go back to bed and forget about Robert.                                          "Rob, please.Where is your chemistry book? You said you had a project today remember?" She spoke sweetly still, holding his bag to her chest. Though Robert just ignore her and continued munching away at his cornflakes.                                                                                                                              "Rob please answer me" She pleaded. I wish he'd just answer her, I hated seeing her so desperate. Then he swallowed the mouthful he had before screaming, "I don't know where the book is!" The cornflakes suddenly were no long in the bowl, flying across the table in mushy orange lump, causing me to jump back causing me to almost falling out of my seat. I take back what I said a moment ago, this kid was definitely not average.                                                              "Okay Rob. Calm down. I'll find it. Just go and brush your teeth, yeah?" She spoke soothingly and still managed a smile to at him. How she could she deal with that? I would've yelled back and started world war three on his punk ass.                                                                                                              She tugged her socks up then moved into the living room lifting the black cushions up then placing them back in position, looking for that stupid book. Robert on the other hand, didn't look like he wanted to go and brush his teeth though.                                                                                "You think your so fucking perfect now, don't you?" He stood up and his fingers were red then white on the table like he was going to smash the table in half but in one swift movement he was in front of Ashby; hands gripping her tiny shoulders now. He was towering over her as in an instant she looked small compared to him.                                                                                                              Meanwhile I had frozen in my place, was I meant to do something? I mean it wasn't my my problem that her brother was a freak but my mixed thoughts were broken by the sound of her wimp, I darted my eyes back to where she was but she was gone, now landing onto the the hard, stone floor, Robert her thrown her like she was never but a rag doll. I found myself standing up. "Robert.I suggest you do what your sister says" I said firmly to him. What was I doing? Why was I helping someone I barely knew.                                                                                                                          Robert turned to face me, his chest collapsed and he started breathing hard and his eyes looked brighter, he nodded unsure whether or not to test me but he made the right question as he shuffled upstairs.                                                                                                                                                                    Rubbing my eyes I sighed, I really felt like a prat now. I shouldn't have been getting involved in family feuds. On the physical hand I automatically went to help Ashby up but to my surprise she was already up. She was over by the sink, wetting some kitchen roll under the metal tap. I went back to my sit and cursed at the now empty bowl in my hands.                                                              Thanks would of been nice, I thought.                                                                                                                 "Thank you" A little voice spoke and it took me a minute before realising it was hers. Shocked I turned to face her as she had now begun to wipe her face so she definitely didn't wear makeup then, it was nice to know she was all natural. Almost a rarity around here nowadays, her green eyes caught my curious blue ones staring.                                                                                                          "He spat my face" She tried to laugh as threw the kitchen roll in the bin, hole in one. The laugh couldn't hide the sadness and I felt myself getting angry. That was disgusting, how could he spit purposely in her face, in anyone's face for that matter, especially a woman's did he have no morals.                                                                                                                                                                                  "You okay?" I asked suddenly as I turned back round; I wanted to punch myself in the face, I felt stupid for asking such a lame question.                                                                                                              "I'm okay" She replied as began starting to clean up Robert tantrum of cornflakes. She looked like a maid, Robert's maid and for some reason that gave me a sick feeling; knowing she might have to do that her whole life. I took mine then Robert's bowl into the dishwasher, earning a smile from her. My heart sped up, it was such a beautiful smile. She dumped the remaining cornflakes and milk out of Robert's bowl into a soaked paper towel before moving to the bin, placing the towel carefully in after that she graceful turned round and began running to the end of the stairs; I watched her skirt swish as she moved, man I wanted a new brain.                      "Robert, come on your bus will be here soon" She called as her one hand leaned against the banister and the other on the wall, her body at an the angle as she pushed herself onto her tip-toes. In that position her hips looked more defined and the way her stomach went in, I couldn't look away, I felt sweaty. Yes, definitely needed a new brain.                                                                         On the other hand, Robert walked down yanked the bag out of her hands and walked out the door, unable to meet my gaze anymore which left Ashby standing there in a froze motion before she breathed, slowly turning to face my direction a smiled fixed on again.                                            With her head now facing the floor, she picked up her jumper as well as her bag before lastly pulling on her school shoes which to my surprise looked like something goths would wear, creepers I think they were called.                                                                                                                            But she was breathing so hard, like she was trying to hold back her tears and it twisted something painful up inside of me. It made me feel lost and weird.                                                     "Hey. Want to walk to school with me?"
