Ambiguous

Only a step away from one another,
we remained quiet for a while.

Slowly, his words sank in, making me realize
the absurdity of it all. I thought it was impossible,
a complete nonsense

for him to exist
outside of my dreams.

"You don't believe me,
do you?"

Looking down at my feet,
I avoided an answer.

"Hahahahahahahaha"

At the sudden outburst,
I raised my head; before my eyes,
tangled images appeared.

Broken threads of green and white
intertwined above our heads.

One step, and his hands caught me,
brought me closer to his beating chest.

"Then,
if all I were was a piece of memory,

how do you explain this?"

Eyes opened wide in surprise,
shaky hands and dried throat,
I left myself prey to his beating
heart.
