Reaching for the Stars

The call ended as suddenly as it began,

and in the following moments, I couldn't help but wonder
if a third try did any good.

Closing my eyes,
I touched the numbers' silhouettes for one last time,
gently bidding them goodbye,
hoping that once I left, time would rewind and everything would be well
in the tiny apartment on the second floor.

As I took my leave,
throwing one last look at the seventh window in sight,
I plugged in my earphones, and let myself prey to the beat.

"From darkness we rise and that shall be our home—


I then continued to walk aimlessly through the streets,
in an attempt to free myself from the memories.
