Where flowers bloomed, his steps continued,
where I paced, the flowers died,
and where the little creature faded, the land turned bare.

"Come along now, there's plenty to be done,
my Queen."

With a beating heart going in reverse,
I was dragged by the man cloaked in smiles.

"Come, come; the world awaits
for my new bride."

Disheveled by his words,
my mind found itself at work
with thoughts.


"No."


I stopped in my tracks,
stubbornly trying to retrieve my hand
from his clasp.


"I refuse!"


Eyes shut tight,
I prayed to wake up
from a beginning nightmare.

Old words,
whispers without a body,
resounded in my head.


Run,
   run,
     run.


The echo of the rationale
