Chapter 15. || "The big day."

- God, they're all going to kill me when they find out I'm in New York with you and they're going to start thinking that I won't get there in time- -

- Ashley - I felt his lips rushing mine. How sleepy was I? I couldn't even feel when he got close to me. - Calm down, okay, everything's going to be alright. We're all going to get in time and it's going to be excellent, okay? - 

I didn't and couldn't talk. I nodded. 

And that's when his lips touched mine, and I felt that I was melting into his hands. After a moment, I ran my hands through his hair, and he slid his arms under the sweater and put his hands on the small of my back, which caused the garment to lift up to my stomach, leaving all my legs and part of my abdomen in the air. I felt myself deepening the kiss, and I ran my hands down to the sides of his face, and then slid them to his neck, then my fingers were tracing the shape of his collarbones, until they landed on his bare and strong chest. I left them there, and extended them. 

I noticed that my knees were now positioned at each side of his thighs, and that since I was kneeling, my head was just an inch higher than his. I wrapped my arms around his neck. He put his hands on my back and slowly laid me to one said on the couch, my head resting on the armrest. He opened up his legs and put them on each side of me, so he was now straddling me, and I was now beneath him. He returned to kissing me, then he started to plant soft kisses on my jawline, until he then kissed me on the neck. I felt my back arch in pleasure, my hands in his hair tightening their grip more. I felt how his hands looked for the hem of the sweater that I was wearing, and how they carefully started lifting it up, until I had to help him and pull it out of my head. I lied there, completely vulnerable to him, on the couch. He kissed me on the lips again, and within the kiss I felt him whispering my name, over and over again. Ashley... Ashley... Ashley...

- Ashley, Ashley... Are you there? - I opened up my eyes and saw that Nathan's eyes were opened and big, staring at me. 

So it was all a dream. I was imagining things and daydreaming. 

- What... What happened? - 

- I told you what time is it and I guess then you fell asleep. It was only for 5 minutes. - 

I sat upright and put a hand on my forehead. - Sorry. - 

- Don't worry, I understand that you're tired. - 

There was a pause. - Nathan, about what we talked about last night. I'm sorry for falling asleep, I guess my eyes felt really heavy and I didn't even realize when I closed them. Anyway, I wanted to say that what you did... What you did for me... I wanted to thank you. It was really brave. - 

He cupped my face with his hands. - You don't need to thank me. You know that I'd do anything for you. - he extended his thumbs and traced my eyebrows with them. - If anything had happened to you because I didn't accept it... I swear I wouldn't have forgiven myself for it. - 

I bit my lips. - Don't talk like that, Dionne couldn't have done anyth- -

- I know her, Ash. I know what she's capable of doing. If she or anyone ever touched you- -

I hugged him and cut him off, otherwise, I would've started crying. Plus, I really didn't want to talk about it anymore. - The point is, Nathan, now we're both save, right? And I have you back as my friend and I can't be happier about that. - I backed off the hug. His face seemed destroyed. - Now, we have a concert to give, right? - 

- Sure we do. - he pulled my head with his arm and put it on his chest. I closed my eyes for another second.

I think we stayed like that for nearly 10 minutes, until I heard Nathan's ringtone. He reached for his phone that was on the little table that was in front of the couch we were and picked up the call. - Hello? - I could hear nothing and didn't intend to; the only things Nathan was saying were "uhumms" and "all right". He hung up the phone with a sigh. - I think we need to get going now. -
