Touchy-Touchy ~(*^*)~

There's something that makes me angry whenever people say it.

"I'd rather die than..."

And other things like that. I'm okay with:

"You're killing me over here!"

And,

"I'm dying! (of laughter) HALP!"

Because would you really rather DIE than do something, I don't know - embarrassing?

No.

Heck no.

You wouldn't.

But that's not exactly why I get mad at such a phrase. This is why:

I know what it feels (maybe not EXACTLY, but close enough) like to want to actually die. I have had suicidal thoughts before and, chances are, to those of you saying "I'd rather die than", you haven't. And to me, someone who has experienced the want to die, that is just a cruel joke. And I know that the person saying it doesn't realize how insulting that phrase can be, so I'm not specifically angry at them, just at the phrase or people who say it knowing that it's kind of a touchy subject. >.>

Just please try not to say that. ;~;

I hope other people that have had suicidal thoughts agree with me on this subject... X3 It's just a touchy subject, okay? Makes me stop smiling and my voice to grow quiet and the edges of my lips to dip down as I tell someone that they wouldn't want to die than lick their crush or something. And then that someone will try to explain to me that it's just a phrase that people say-

"No, stop. I don't want to hear anymore. Just please don't say that, because I know you wouldn't die over something as stupid as that."

"Why should you care, huh?"

"Because... I.. it's a.... touchy subject..."

"How could that be a touchy subject?"

"Because I know what it feels like to want to die, okay?! And I know that that's kind of a dumb reason, but it's a true reason! When people say that they'd rather want to die than do something, I see it almost like an indirect insult to people like me who have had suicidal thoughts!"

"Oh... um.. I.... didn't know..."

"I know you didn't. It's a touchy subject, so I would respect you more if you tried to stop saying that, alright?"

"...o.. okay...."

"Thank you."

Meh.
