Chapter Forty-Two

Start from the beginning

"If any of the boys walk in, we're screwed," she frowned. We wanted to surprise everyone with our gowns. Just as we feared, the doors opened and Draco and Alex walked in.

"Nope, close your eyes, now!" Pansy drilled, standing in front of me. They closed their eyes and frowned.

"Why? She's dressed, isn't she?" Alex asked.

"Yes, but you can't see her dress yet!" she said.

"Now keep your eyes closed and sit down!" she said and the carefully made their way over.

"Hold still Leah!" she scolded as I swayed.

"Sorry, it's hard to stand like this," I said, my arms straight out to the side. Pansy was touching up the waist when she pricked my side.

"Ouch!" I cried out and she giggled.

"Sorry!"

"Hey, are you guys done?" Draco asked.

"No!" we said together.

"Shorter?" she asked, looking at the hem of my dress.

"Just enough so it's not going to drag on the ground," I said.

"Can we please look?" Alex asked and I smiled.

"No!"

"You don't even have a date," Blaise said, walking down into the common room.

"Blaise, you aren't supposed to be down here!" Pansy huffed, quickly throwing a blanket over her dress, which was on the chair.

"Hm, that's pretty Leah," Blaise complemented.

"Thank you," I smiled. Pansy magically tailored the alterations we agreed on, making it tighter and a better fit.

"Even better," he winked and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Excuse me, Pansy is your date, is she not? Bother her with your flirting," I smirked.

"Did you find a date?" he asked, sitting down and admiring my dress.

"Nobody's asked me yet," I shrugged.

"Well that's a crime," he smiled and I laughed.

"Hey, Leah," Draco and Alex said at the same time. I smiled and looked at them. Their eyes still closed. Pansy finished and waved her wand so that my jeans and sweater were back on. My dress ended up on the couch and I put a blanket over it.

"Hm?" I asked.

"Will you go to the Ball with me?" they asked in unison again.

"You guys can open your eyes now," Pansy smiled.

"So, you both want to take me to the Ball?" I smirked.

"I guess so," Draco said, glaring at Alex.

"Draco...I don't think it'd be wise..." I trailed off, looking at him apologetically.

"You're right," he sighed.

"Save me a dance," he smiled and I nodded.

"So, Alex..." I smiled and he laughed.

"Leah would you like to go to the Ball with me?" he asked.

"Sure," I smiled.

"Great," he smiled.

"Clarissa!" Draco called as she walked past.

"Yes Drakie?"

"Wanna go to the Ball?" he asked with a frown.

"Of course! Yes, yes, yes!" she shrieked and then ran up to her room.

"I think she wants to go with you," I said seriously.

"Oh shut up," he joked. We all laughed and then there was a knock on the common room door. Pansy opened it and reluctantly let in Weasley.

"Hey Leah," he smiled. I made my dress disappear into my dorm and then smiled.

"Hi," I said.

"I was wondering...if you'd want to go to the Ball...with me," he said nervously. My smile faded and I bit my lip.

"Oh, I'm already going with somebody," I said apologetically.

"You are? Oh...okay I understand, I'll see you later," he said, sounding bummed. He quickly walked out and I shook my head.

"I thought he'd ask me earlier. Oh my god, I totally forgot!" I gasped.

"You guys, Viktor Krum asked me a few days ago! I said no, but guess who his second choice was; his last resort, guess!" I laughed.

"Uh, Fleur?" Pansy guessed.

"Granger! She thinks he asked her as his first choice!" I laughed and they joined in.

"Oh that's great," Pansy cried.

"I know!" I giggled.

"That's going to be fun to see. Bet she'll look dull compared to him."

"Probably," I shrugged.

"Well come on, let's finish my dress up in our dorm, away from prying eyes," she said, narrowing her eyes at the boys before we darted up the stairs to begin her alterations.
