I woke up at around nine the next morning. It was Sunday, so I didn't have school. I pulled myself out of bed, and took a quick shower. I finished, and got dressed. I threw on a loose sweater with a pair of light jeans. I then threw on some moccasins and some jewelry. I walked out of my room, and downstairs. I saw Niall eating at the counter alone. I silently tiptoed over to him, and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Isn't it the guys' move to wrap his arms around the girl's waist?" Niall asked. I shrugged, "I'm changing it up."

Niall chuckled, and turned around, so I could see him. I noticed how silent the house was, "Is anyone here?" I asked Niall. He shook his head, "No one is awake. Zayn went back to Rachel's apartment with her. He said that he's going to stay at her house more often since she has a baby on the way. And, I think Aislinn and Liam are in their rooms asleep. The others didn't come home.... So, I don't know."

I giggled, thinking about why. Niall pulled me close to him, before kissing me on the lips. I loved the feeling that erupted in my heart. We let go, once I heard footsteps on the stairs. I could see Liam walking down the stairs, rubbing his eyes. He joined us at the counter. I walked over to the cabinet, and grabbed a bagel. I heard Liam and Niall talking while I prepared my breakfast.

"How'd your date go with Aislinn last night?" Niall asked Liam.

"Good," Liam answered, simply. Niall frowned, "That's all you can tell me?"

"Well, we went out for dinner and then went walking after wards," Liam replied, keep everything vague.

"Did you kiss her?" I asked, enthusiastically.

"Maybe..." Liam mumbled, trailing off at the end.

"AWW!" I loudly exclaimed, "That's so cute!"

"Where are the others?" Liam asked, trying to change the subject. Niall told Liam what he told me, "Well, Zayn went over to Rachel's house and the others... We don't really know..."

"Niall, we need to do something today," I said to him.

"What do you want to do?" Niall asked. I looked out the window to see the sun brightly shining. It was really bright out for November, "Well, we could go walking downtown."

Niall smiled, "Sounds good to me. I'll go get ready and we can go. Besides, Liam and Aislinn should be given some more alone time," Niall joked, winking at the end. Liam frowned, "You two are really into the idea of us dating, aren't you?"

I nodded, "Yeah, pretty much. Okay, don't take to long, Niall."

Niall walked up the stairs to his room. I grabbed my coat and threw it over my shoulder. I walked back over to Liam, and rested my elbows against the counter, "So, do you think you're going to ask her to be your girlfriend?"

Liam shrugged, "I don't know yet. We've only had one date."

"But, do you like her?" I asked. I could see a grin playing on the corners of Liam's lips, like he was thinking about her, "Yeah, I will admit that I do like her."

"You guys will make such a cute couple!" I exclaimed, happily. I heard footsteps on the stairs, to see Niall walking downstairs. He walked over to me, and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "Ready to go, babe?" He asked me. I nodded, "Bye, Liam," I replied, waving to Liam.

"Bye," Liam answered, before continuing to eat his breakfast. Niall and I walked over to his car and got in. Niall pulled out of the driveway and drove down the road.

"You know, maybe we should just walk in the more abandoned part of time," I told Niall. Niall frowned, "Why?"

"The fans," I replied simply. Niall nodded, understanding what I meant, "Okay, we can do that."

Niall turned onto another street, and continued driving down the road. I looked out the window as Niall drove. He parked the car on the side of the road. We both got out, and walked along the sidewalk. As we walked, and made small talk. I could see Niall's hand reach down and intertwine his fingers with mine. I could see we were at a dead end, so I turned over to a random alley. I was stopped, because Niall wasn't moving. I turned around to face him, "What is it?" I asked, confused.

"Are you sure we should walk down an alley?" Niall asked, "You seem to get hurt whenever you are in alley..."

"Niall, you're with me," I replied, "I'll be fine."

"Whatever you say," Niall mumbled. I felt his hand grasp mine firmly. We walked down the alley, into the darkness. We reached the end, and were now somewhere else.

"See, no problems," I replied. Niall didn't say anything. I felt his hand squeeze mine. I looked up to see him staring at the building to the right. I looked at the building, it was a storage locker. I frowned, "What is it, Niall?" I asked.

"We are going now," Niall demanded, starting to turn around. I didn't move, so he stopped.

"What's wrong?" I asked. Niall bit his lip nervously, "U-Um, that's the place where your Uncle kept me prisoner."

My eyes grew wide, this was the place, "W-Wait, isn't this the place where my Dad and Uncle sold drugs."

"Well, when we left the garage, there were drugs in one of the lockers," Niall replied. I let go of Niall's hand. I took a step forward, and started walking towards the garage.

"What are you doing?!" Niall yelled. I turned around, to see that he hadn't moved.

"I am going in," I said, before walking towards the opened door of the garage. I walked into the opening, leaving Niall behind. I walked into the dark garage, and started walking down the hallway. I heard footsteps behind me, and immediately turned around.

"This isn't a good idea, Nicole," I then realized it was Niall who was behind me. I shrugged, "I want to know what's inside here. Maybe I'll figure out more about Father."

Niall frowned, "Why would you want to do that?"

"I want to know why he became that way," I replied, "I want to know why he became abusive."

I felt the room growing silent, Niall had no idea how to reply. I walked down the hallway, and heard Niall's footsteps following behind me. I saw an open locker, and walked in. There was a small light bulb hanging from the ceiling, providing the only light. I looked inside, to see nothing. I was about to leave, when my eye caught something. I saw a small handle on the wall. I walked over to the handle, and pulled it open, exposing a hidden door, "What's this?" I mumbled to myself. The door was really small, so I had to crawl through the entryway.

"Nicole, what are you doing?" I heard Niall ask, concern covering his voice.

"I'm just looking," I answered.

"I don't think that's a good idea..." Niall replied, trailing off. I didn't say anything as I crawled through the opening. I was extremely surprised by what I saw. It was a small room that was created. But, it wasn't the room that surprised me, it was the items in the room. Covering the walls were pictures... Of my mom. They were from when she was a college student to when she was in her forties. What is this? I saw two items on the ground. One was a letter and the other was a diary. I picked up the note first, and read it:

My dear Wife,

I will miss you dearly. You were the one I care for more than anything. I would do absolutely anything for you... But, there's one problem. I can't. You have left Earth, you have left me. I never thought I would ever lose you, but.... I was wrong. I thought we would stay together until we were old, but we can't.

I'm so sorry that she killed you. Your own daughter, even. I knew having children was a bad idea. I lost my son, and you, the love of my life. I will never love again. All feelings in my heart have been replaced by hate. I can't love anymore, because I can only hate. I promise you two things. I will always love you, even when you're in heaven. Second, I will punish our daughter. She will get what she deserves for killing you.

Love,

Robert

I gasped once I finished reading the letter. It was all starting to make sense now. He did really love Mom. And, well, I guess he didn't really care about me and Josh ever. He was so hopelessly in love that he couldn't love anyone else but her. We were just useless kids to him. And, he wasn't afraid to make my life absolutely miserable. I guess he never was a good person to me ever.

I stood up, and grabbed the diary and note. I can read the diary later. I could see that there was another door on the other side of the room. I walked over to it, leading me into another garage. I walked in, and noticed that the garage door in the garage door was open. I looked inside, and noticed something seriously surprising. Piles of money were on the floor. Why is that here? Where did all the money come from?

I crouched down beside the piles of money, and flipped through the bills. There were hundred dollar bills in one stack. I reached for another stack to flip through, when I felt a shadow fall on top of me. I was about to turn around, when I felt the back of my hair yanking forward. I cried out in pain, as I felt my body being yanked upwards.

"What are you doing here, sweetheart," I heard a voice growl into my ear. My back was slammed against the concrete wall, causing me to cry out in pain again. I could finally see who was in front of me. I-It was my Grandfather. I gasped. He didn't waste any time.

"I didn't think I'd see you here," He growled. His hand swiftly moved from his pocket up to my neck, but it wasn't just his hand. In his hand was a blade. He pressed the blade against my neck. I felt a trickle of blood run down my neck, as the blade was pressed against my neck.

"Don't say a word," He whispered into my ear. I felt my hands growing sweaty, and my body started to tremble. Suddenly, I could see someone coming into sight. They were walking in, silently, through the open garage door. They took a few steps forward, and I could see who it was, Niall.

Niall put one finger up to his lips, as to tell me to remain silent and act like he wasn't there.

"So, you thought you could simply get away from me?" Grandfather growled, "You can't get away from me that easy. I will continue to tor-"

Niall had raised his fist up to Grandfather's head, and slammed it against the back of his head. I could see Grandfather's eyes roll to the back of his head, while he fell to the ground, along with the blade. Niall quickly ran towards me. I collapsed into his chest, crying.

"Sh, it's okay, baby," He whispered. He rubbed my back comfortingly. I looked up at him, with teary eyes. I could feel his eyes staring at my neck.

"You're bleeding," He whispered, his voice gentle, "We need to get out of here and get help."
