Chapter 18: Uncertainty

Chapter 18:

"Is she okay?"

"Yeah she is."

"At all costs?"

"At all costs."

What does it feel like to die slowly? That's a terrible question to ask to the people but I feel like everyone is curious about the answer. Right now, I feel like I'm getting the answer of that question. I can feel my weak heartbeat, the air that I'm getting at this very moment...

"How about the damages?"

"Everything is getting cleaned right now. No worries. It'll turn out great on Monday."

"And the people involved?"

"They're getting some treatments, like her."

I can feel how my muscles ache so much right now. Even my fingers feel like it weighs tons. I can't open my eyes. It might be the heaviest task I'll be doing if I'll try. I can feel some needles and something that is unusual for me on some parts of my body.

"How about my daughter? Is she going to be fine?"

"Yes. She'll wake up like nothing happened, like the usual process we do to her."

I can't recognize any of the sort of blurry voice I'm hearing right now. It's the first time I've heard this kind of worried but firm voices. I'm getting more painful feeling... a scorching pain on every vein I have. I feel I'm near to my own death. Oh fucker.

Nagising ako sa amoy ng kape. Pagkamulat ko ay nakita ko yung kapatid ko na nasa may pintuan at nakangiti siya sakin.

"Yeah?"

Napahawak na lang ako sa ulo ka dahilsa konting kirot na nararamdaman ko. Napansin kong suot ko pa din yung dress ko kagabi sa party at katabi ko pa sa kama yung pouch na ginamit ko din. Tumingin ulit ako sa kanya at parang nagpipigil siya ng tawa.

"Bumangon ka na dyan. May photoshoot ka diba?"

Umalis din siya bigla pagkatapos niyang magsalita. Napatingin ako sa orasan ko at maaga pa naman para mag-ayos. Tumayo ako at humarap sa isang salamin. Tinititigan ko na ng ilang segundo ang sarili ko. Parang may mali.

"Sunny~"

"Pababa na!"

Kumuha ako ng panali sa buhok at tinali ang buhok ko sa isang bun. Dire-diretso ako sa dining table at nakahain na ang almusal like the usual scenario if Tita is present. Kumakain na yung pinsan kong si Ice at ang kapatid kong si Spring.

"You look like a big mess ate." Banggit ni Ice pagkatapos niyang kumuha ng bacon sa plato.

"You don't say insan. Hahahaha." Sagot naman ng kapatid ko sa kanya.

"Sige na Sunny, bilis bilisan mo na. Susunduin ka nan g manager mo around 10am." Sabi ni Tita pagkalagay niya ng plato na may pancakes sa tapat ko. Freshly made.

"Paano ako nakauwi kagabi?" Tanong ko habang dahan dahan kong tinutusok ang pancakes na nasa harap ko.

"Hinatid ka nila Gab. May kasama pa siyang isang lalaki eh, tinawag niyang si Rain." So dalawa silang naghatid kagabi? "They said you passed out of nowhere." Really? Passing out of nowhere is not my... well recently it became my thing. Ilang beses na at parating sila Gab ang naghahatid sakin sa bahay.
