"Thank you," I finally managed, but still stuttered a bit. I was probably blushing really badly. Dan led me to our table before the waiter came to take our orders. I ordered a French vanilla to drink while my breakfast was being made. I decided to go with the diner's famous scrambled eggs and orange juice. Dan went for the pancakes and told the waitress to make his coffee black. Apparently he had gotten used to strong coffee during school and couldn't function without it.

We started off with small talk. It was really unnerving talking to Dan in person. I felt so insecure about my appearance and kept worrying that something was wrong with my face. At one point I went to the washroom to check the mirror, but everything was fine so I relaxed a bit. When the food arrived, Dan and I dug in. We were both starving and weren't afraid to show it. We spoke for what felt like twenty minutes. I found out about Dan's family and his likes and dislikes. I told him about mine. We really have a lot in common. I wanted to tell him about wanting to go to university for sciences, but he still didn't know my age. I wanted to text Ave and ask if I should tell him, but I didn't want to be rude.

The radio was playing rock music through the internal speakers in the ceiling. Thankfully this place doesn't ever play those annoying pop stations. I can't stand listening to the same annoying song over and over again. When My Chemical Romance started playing I noticed Dan mouthing the words to the song. He also has a similar taste in music, I thought as I mouthed the words myself. When Dan noticed he instantly smiled. "I didn't think you'd be into this type of music." I laughed. "Well I am. I can't stand pop." Dan raised his hand up for a high five. We broke out into laughter when we managed to miss the actual high five itself.

"Oh my god," I said as soon as I looked at the diners clock. "It's already 4:30." I thought it was noon at the latest. "Wow, I never would've imagined that amount of time went by," Dan said as I frantically looked through my purse and pulled out my cellphone. I clicked the home button, but the screen never lit up. "Damn, I forgot the battery died." Dan reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, unlocked it and handed it to me. The only difference was that his phone was black and mine was white. "Thanks," I said before dialing Avery's phone number. "You have enough minutes, right?" Dan smiled. "I have unlimited everything up to nationwide calling for Canada and the States." I stared at him.

"What? But you're with Rogers. I begged them for a plan like that and they said it didn't exist!" Dan smiled again. "It doesn't. Call your friend," he laughed. "Oops," I said before pressing the call button. When the table began to vibrate my eyes widened. Avery's ringtone sounded from inside of my purse. "No no no no no," I muttered. Shit. Avery lent me her purse so it would match with my shoes. I didn't think she'd leave her cellphone inside of it. "That can't be too good," Dan said as I angrily pressed the end button. I looked up at him. "I'll just call my home phone," I said, handing his phone back to him.

I called the home phone from Avery's crappy cellphone. I don't understand why she even uses this thing. She has all of the newest apple products, but refuses to buy their phones ever since she got hers stolen in the ninth grade. Dan watched me as the phone rang. No answer, which means Avery had to stay overtime at work and wouldn't be going back to the apartment. She probably hasn't even noticed her phone was missing, I thought. I decided to call the pet store, but the screen turned off. Apparently Ave also forgot to charge her phone.

"Is everything ok?" Dan asked me with a look of concern. "Yes and no. Avery is at work and I highly doubt she's going home. Both of our phones have no battery" I said frustrated. "I could always drive you home," Dan offered. "We should get going if you want to make it to your parents house on time." He offered. I usually didn't accept favours, but what was I going to do to get home? "Only if it's not too much trouble and you don't have anything to do," I told him. He just chuckled. "I never have anything to do. It's no big deal at all." I sent him a grateful smile. "Thank you so much," I said as he called the waitress, Marla, for the bill. I asked the waitress to tell Avery that I got home safely in case she decided to stop by looking for me.

I saw Dan pulling out money from his wallet and quickly stopped him. "There's no way you're paying," I said quickly. "Why not?" He looked genuinely confused.

"You bought me flowers, and you're driving me home. Please let me pay," I begged. I would feel terrible if he also paid for breakfast. Dan smirked a bit and damn did it suit him. "Fine, but only on one condition," he said as he rubbed his chin in suspense. I raised a brow at him. "Ok?" where is this going? "You have to let me take you out again tomorrow night. I want you to meet my friend Luke. You can bring Avery." The colonies of butterflies were at it again. He wanted to go out again? He wanted me to meet his friend and to meet my friend? "Ok," I answered, barely able to contain a huge smile. "I'd love to."

I pulled out a twenty from my wallet as we got up. We walked towards the parking lot together and we played, "guess which car is mine." There weren't many cars in the parking lot, but I recognized some of the workers cars. The only other options were a Ford, a Beatle, a Cadillac, and Jeep. "Um, is it the Ford?" Dan laughed. "Nope, try again," was all he said. I studied his face, but he wasn't looking anywhere hear the cars. "Ok. Is it the Jeep?" Dan laughed again. "Oh my God you drive a buggy!" I said, trying not to laugh. I didn't have anything against buggies, but how on earth can a man as tall as Dan fit into one of those. Dan clicked a button on his keychain and the headlights to the Cadillac flashed. I tried to keep my mouth from dropping open. No way, I thought, making sure to not say it out loud. Dan smiled. "You aren't very good at guessing, are you?"
