Chapter 23:
I went home the next day. My hip was bandaged and I had stitches. That was the extent of my injury. Peeta was on the porch waiting for me.
"I'm sorry," he said as I hugged him. "I'm sorry, Katniss. I'm sorry."
I kissed him and that shut him up. "I'm fine." I smiled.
A strange black truck drove up to the front of our house and two men got out. I recognized Romulus Thread, the peacekeeper that beat Gale up in the middle of District 12. I didn't know who the other man was.
"You," he pointed at Peeta. "You're coming with us."
"No!" Peeta stated, but Thread and the other man grabbed Peeta. They started to walk away. I walked down the porch stairs and looked around. Along the side of our house I saw my bow and arrows, propped up neatly mixed in with the gardening tools. I grabbed them and prepared to shoot.
Aim right at Thread. Breath in... Breath out... Pull back... Check aim... Let. It. Fly.
