Chapter 6:
Annie woke up from her drunk stupor later that night. She tried to apologize but she was still stuck in a haze. Peeta and I decided to take a walk down the beach. We walked down by the water and chased some of the crabs away. A huge wave crashed on the shore and it knocked the both of us down. I landed on top of him and kissed him. The both of us were soaked.
"Hold still," Peeta said as he picked a small mole crab out of my hair. I smiled. A flashing light in the distance caught my eye and I looked up.
It was coming from a lighthouse a few miles down the shore. Something was off about the light. I studied it. Every time the light flashed I saw a figure. I focused on it more, trying to make out any details of the figure. Suddenly I felt relaxed.
He never left them. He's always watching them and protecting them. Finnick's spirit never left District 4; it never left Annie. Finnick's spirit grinned and looked directly at me. His spirit stood there in practically only his underwear, almost like the day we first met.
Through the breeze I heard, "Where is my trident?"
I laughed. "I got it."
"What's wrong?" Peeta said as he placed the crab into the ocean.
"Nothing." I smiled. "I thought I saw an old friend."
