Chapter 5:
The train ride was very loud. Thankfully we had a cart to ourselves. Johanna was arguing with Haymitch and Effie over something stupid. Peeta was making a sketch of what I assumed was me because he kept glancing up at me as I tried to sleep. Gale was sitting by Johanna and they were holding hands, their fingers intertwined.

When we arrived at Annie's house we found the front door unlocked. The stove was on. A boiling pot of water was bubbling and spewing out hot water everywhere. Noah was in the other room hysterically crying.

"I'll get Noah, you find Annie." I said to Peeta.

I walked into Noah's room. It smelled like a mix of baby powder and the ocean. I looked into his crib and once Noah saw my face he stopped crying.

"Mama!" He cheered.

 "No, I'm Katniss." I smiled.

"Ka-piss?"

"Shit. Now I taught him how to curse."

"Sh-it."

"No, no, no, no..." I picked him up and carried him out of the room, but on my way out something caught my eye. There was a picture of Annie and Finnick on their wedding day on Noah's changing table. My eyes began getting glassy and I walked out of the room. Everyone was hovered around a drunk Annie, face down at the kitchen table.

"What happened?" I said.

"Mama!" Noah said and pointed his arm towards Annie, grabbing the air.

"Mama's sleeping." Peeta said in a baby voice as he came closer to Noah.

I let Peeta hold him and I watched the two of them. Peeta was so good with Noah and Noah liked him a lot. I got a fuzzy feeling inside. Peeta's purpose in this world was to be a father. It might be about time he fulfills that.
