Chapter 10:
The next day we left District 4 and returned to the remains of District 12. Everything was rebuilt and under the new government everyone had enough food to eat each night. When we got back I walked Johanna home. We were walking when all of a sudden she dropped her bag. She clenched her stomach and waddled over to the bushes. She started throwing up. I ran over to her aid.
"I'm fine." she said. "I just might be a little pregnant that's all."
This took me by surprise. "That's what you get for having sex on my floor."
"Did I ever apologize for that?" She said after she was done.
"No, but-"
"Don't tell Gale...Not yet at least. Besides, we had sex three days ago. I think I've been pregnant for longer than just a few days."
I gave her a sympathetic look. I truly did feel bad for Johanna. She's only a few years older than me, but another part of me thought about the fact that she caused this. I don't know where that part of me came from. Most likely some ingrained misogyny deep within me that I should rid myself of.
"Okay." I said and she gave me a hug. "Oh..." She took me by surprise.
Johanna never hugs anyone other than Gale, which even that rarely occurs. "Thanks Katniss." We walked over to where her bag was and I picked it up for her. "By the way, did you really teach Noah how to say 'shit?'"
All I could do was smile.
