Noah was humming.

And Juliana was suspicious. Noah didn't hum.

She kept pestering him with questions, and he kept lazily avoiding them.

She grew frustrated, and he assured her nothing was wrong.

But she knew something was. She recognized the feeling, the empty feeling. She'd felt it before. He, on the other, wasn't feeling it at all. But he knew she was. He hugged her closer, and then took her hands and led her to the roof of their apartment building.

Once the door was closed behind them he kissed her, and kissed her and kissed her, covering her in his love. And her mood lifted, and she started to smile, and then to laugh.

He tickled her, drowned her in kisses, and dismissed her doubts.

In the brisk air, her nose grew red, her cheeks grew rosy, her fingers grew numb, and her lips grew chapped, and he kissed them all.

"Only you, Juliana." He whispered lovingly, "Only you."

He kissed her like it was the end of the world.

It was the end of something alright.

He would never kiss her like that again.
