"Are you okay, Noah?" Juliana asked, coming to lay down next to him on the bed.
No, no, no. No. Why? He had no fucking idea. But still, no. "Yeah. Long day."
He rolled over, his back facing Jules, and peered at the clock. Gemma was probably at her lovely dinner with her lovely 'soulmate' and her lovely goddamn flowers.
"Is there anything I can do to help that?" She asked in a soft, raspy tone. He closed his eyes.
"Not in the mood."
She huffed. "Fine. Anything I can get you?"
He turned to face her again, sighing. She hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, no one had done anything wrong, yet everything felt . . .
"No, but thanks Jules." He pulled her closer, feeling her nestle up against his shirt. But they both felt it, they both shared the feeling that something was missing. Something was slipping through their fingers.
And they both were scared of what it was.
