Jacob's POV

"Crash cart now, I can't find a pulse- Code blue!", It was the moment I hated the most. Her Blonde hair was splayed over the white pillow as loud bleeps and monitors echoed through my ear-drums simultaneously- the line on the screen was flat. I couldn't lose a patient, not today.

"Rhythm is PEA", Nurse Peebody announced pulling a cart to the side of her bed,

"Fucking help her!", her mother was screaming at the top of her longs, being held back by two security guards dressed in all black,

"I'm going to start compressions, are we ready?", tearing the thin blouse from her skin and connecting my palm to her body, she felt cold- so cold. Her tiny body bobbed up and down at each hard compression I was delivering,

"Get me one of Epi and prepare to intubate", I was out of breath, thrusting against her desperately,

"Charge to 120- everyone get off her", I ordered applying the gel to her chest as everyone held their hands in the air.

A small zap emerged as the charge occurred. No change.

"Charge to 160", I announced. *Zap*.

"Charge to 200", *Zap*.

Silence.

The sound of the Holter monitoring coming back to life caused immediate sighs of relief to echo through the small room.

"No Arrythmia present, she's stable", Peebody rocked her head towards the ceiling and exhaled as I removed my gloves throwing them in the clinical waste,

"Well done everyone- prep her for theatre please, she needs to go as soon as possible", I stated heading to reception where Celile tapped away at her computer,

"She's stable and heading to theatre now, I'm going to notify her mother", I announced before she nodded gently and gestured towards the waiting room,

"Mrs Wilson?", I called as the lady with salt 'n' pepper hair pulled into a messy ponytail jumped from her seat- the bags under her eyes were telling,

"Is she okay? Please tell me my baby is alive", her bottom lip wobbled and her hands clutched her chest,

"We've managed to stabilise her, and her stats look good. We're going to run a few more tests and then she'll be taken to theatre", bursting into tears, she clung to my scrubs burying her face into my chest,

"Thankyou Dr Barston", she sobbed uncontrollably in relief,

"My shift has come to an end now Mrs Wilson, but I'm going to be handing your daughter over to Dr Mason who I will ask to come and meet with you momentarily", wiping her nose with her sleeve she nodded,

"Okay, Thankyou again", taking a seat back in her spot and resting her head against the wall, I made my way bag to A wing where patients and doctors fluttered around the corridors,

"Mia, have you seen Lewis?", I asked as she flipped her dark hair over her shoulder,

"Yeah he went to pathology, he'll be back any second", she explained tapping at her alerter,

"So, last night", she pursed her lips as I remembered the vision of her on all floors on my bed with her long hair tangled in my knuckles,
