I wanted to be ready now, wanted to pull Isabel back in the closet with me and kiss her, but it wasn't that simple.

I still hadn't completely forgiven her for what she'd done over the weekend, and my conscious still wasn't allowing me to move forward.

I watched Isabel walk out of the supply closet, and she turned around to look at me as she held the door open. I snapped out of my daze and walked out after her.

We both stayed silent as we went our separate ways and went back to work.

I wasn't even sure if space from Isabel is what I wanted, but with how muddled my thoughts had been, it seemed like it was what I needed.

I got home from work and went into my room to change my clothes.

"Hey Skylar, you home?" I heard Ava call back to me.

"Yeah, I'm in my room," I responded.

"You don't have anyone in here, do you?" Ava asked as she peeked around the door.

"No, I literally just got back from work," I grinned.

"Just had to make sure," Ava teased.

"How was work?" She continued.

"It was okay I guess," I said with a shrug.

"I thought you were liking it?" She asked.

"No I am," I said, "it was just a stressful day, it'll be fine."

"Oh, got it," she said.

"Hey," Ava continued, "can I ask you something?"

Any time she asked me that lately, it sent my mind into an absolute panic.

"Yeah, sure," I responded, trying to stay calm.

"Why didn't you uh," she hesitated, "why didn't you tell me that you saw Isabel and Micah?"

"I - um, I wanted to," I said, "but I didn't know how much it would bother you, or if it was worth it. We barely saw her."

And let's not talk about what happened after that, I thought.

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense," she said.

"Sorry...maybe I should have," I said as I put my head down, "it was a weird situation, I wasn't really sure what to do."

"It's okay," she responded, "I get why you didn't."

"Okay good," I nodded, "and I didn't really know what her and Micah were at that point."

Ava looked down at her fidgeting hands uncomfortably.

"Did you uh, I mean, was Micah around at all, or did you know him?" I hesitantly asked.

"No," Ava shook her head, "well, when we broke up she did - never mind. No, I don't know him."

I looked at her questioningly, but I didn't say anything else. I didn't want to push the matter.

"Yeah I didn't think you probably did, but just curious," I said.

"I mean he's hot," Ava shrugged, "good for her I guess."

"Yeah...he does basically look like a model," I said.

I didn't want to think about Isabel and Micah together, but at the moment I didn't exactly have a choice.

"Well anyway," Ava started, "hopefully I just won't have to see her again."

Jesus Ava, she was saying all of the right things to make this conversation even more uncomfortable for me.
