"Thanks again for that," I said to Isabel as I saved the information in my phone.

"Yeah, no problem," she responded, "hopefully it works out."

"And if it does," she continued, "then you'd get the added bonus of seeing my smiling face more often."

"Uhh huh," I said with a grin, "added bonus, huh?"

"Oh, totally," she nodded.

"I'm not sure about all of that, but let's just take it one step at a time and see if I can even get a job first," I told her.

"I think I did see that they had something open actually," she said.

"They might, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll get it," I responded.

"Oh come on Skylar," Isabel said, "you're usually one of the most confident people I know, what happened to that?"

"Kind of gotten knocked down a few pegs lately," I said with a shrug.

"Hey it happens," Isabel said, "you'll get it back."

"Thanks," I sighed, "I appreciate all of this, I really do."

"Not a problem," Isabel said with a grin.

"I think I'm ready to go after this drink though," I said.

"You mean you're not planning to get absolutely plastered like we did the last time we were together?" She asked sarcastically.

I felt my face turn slightly red at the mention of the other night, that was something I'd still been trying to forget about.

"Uh no," I said, "definitely not."

"Your loss," Isabel said to me with a mischievous look in her eyes.

I shook my head and quickly looked away. I felt like she was purposely trying to make me think back to our last little outing together. Maybe I was imagining it, but it sure didn't seem like it.

"Alright," I said as I stood up, "let's go."

We walked back around the block to the restaurant parking lot and got into Isabel's car. She started to drive me back home and I saw her glancing over at me.

"Hey are we like...all good now?" She hesitantly asked me.

"Yeah, we're fine," I said as I smiled in her direction.

I had to admit, the conversation with Isabel did make me feel at least a little bit better. And it gave me some hope that I might be able to find another job pretty quickly if I was lucky.

Isabel pulled into the driveway of Greyson and I's house a few minutes later and parked her car.

"Thanks again," I told her as I got out.

I was walking towards the house when she called out after me.

"Skylar, hold on," she said as she opened her door.

"Yeah?" I gave her a confused look.

She got out of her car and came over and wrapped me in a tight hug. It caught me off guard at first, but I hesitantly put my arms around her waist and hugged her back.

"You got this," she said quietly in my ear.

"Thanks Isabel," I said in a muffled voice.

She slowly stepped away from me and waved as she got back into her car.

I stood there for a minute as she backed out of the driveway, and then I walked inside, feeling determined to get this conversation with Greyson over with.

When I got into the house, he was sitting in a chair in the living room with the TV on.

"Hey," he said, "glad you made it home in one piece this time."

"Yeah..." I said hesitantly as I went over and sat down on the couch across from him.

"Um, can we talk for a minute?" I asked.

"Oh, yeah sure, what's up?" He asked.

He sat up in his chair and grabbed the remote to turn the TV off.

"I uh - I don't think I can do this anymore, us I mean, I don't think I can do it," I said quietly.

"You...you don't think you can do it?" He asked in a confused voice.

"Yeah, I'm really sorry Greyson," I said to him.

"Is this because of what I said about you quitting your job? Because I know I was an idiot for that," he asked.

"No, it's not just that," I said, shaking my head, "I've been feeling differently about things for a while honestly."

"Oh," he responded, "why didn't you talk to me about it earlier then?"

"I was trying to figure out what to do, and trying to see if my feelings would change I guess," I said.

"And they haven't..." he trailed off.

"No, I feel really bad," I said, "but I didn't want to keep stringing you along."

"I get it, it's okay," Greyson said, "I mean it sucks, but at least you told me."

We sat there for a minute in silence, neither of us really knowing what to do next.

"I'm just gonna um...I'll get my stuff for the night and go," I said, "I'll come back and get the rest when you're at work."

"You don't have to leave tonight if you don't want to, it's kind of late," he responded.

"It's fine, I'll call Ava," I told him, "and I'm sorry...again."

"You don't have to keep apologizing Skylar," he said, "it happens."

He shrugged slightly as his gaze fell to the floor. I could see the defeated look on his face and it was making me feel terrible.

"Okay, well I guess I'll - I'll see you later," I said awkwardly.

That wasn't exactly how I pictured the conversation with Greyson going, but it definitely could've been worse.

I turned around and walked down the hallway and into our bedroom. I tried to quickly grab just what I needed, I would worry about the rest of this shit tomorrow.

Hopefully Ava was still awake, and willing to take me in as a stray. It hadn't been all that long since I had moved out, maybe this could be my solution for now.

I got out to my car with by bag in hand and called Ava right away.

"Skylar?" She answered, "is everything okay? It's kind of late."

"Yeah...sorry about that," I said, "everything is fine but um, how would you feel about having a roommate again?"
