Chapter 7: Secrets

I was left in the terrible darkness, which I feared the most.

(Lucy POV)
I woke up to a slap in the face. "Wake up you useless child. You need to get smart." The voice snarled. I slowly and painfully got up, I walked to the stairs and went to my room.

I went to my personal bathroom to clean myself up. I cried at my appearance, I had a black, and a badly bruised cheek. How in the world am I supposed to hide this from everyone?

Walking over to the bathtub, I started the water. Feeling dizzy I sat down on the toilet, when I was finally feeling okay I walked to my mirror again and saw dry blood in my hair in the back. I sighed, how can my day get any worse?

After my bath I got dressed, and put my make up on and some extra on my right eye which my father so generously turned black.

While walking to school my stomach started to growl, I missed supper yesterday and breakfast this morning, both to avoid my dad.

When I saw the school I realized people will be asking me about my eye, even though there was make up to cover it, it didn't completely hide it. I have to come up with a pretty convincing lie. Maybe I could skip school today. No that won't work, they'll call my dad then I would get a good beating.

"Luce!" I turned around to see the one person I didn't want to see at the moment. I couldn't let him know anything, so it's time to play it up.

"Hey Natsu. How are you." I asked forcing a pretty convincing smile on my face. The pinkette swung his arm around my shoulder causing me to turn my head to hide my blush.

"Great! I've never been better. I got a beautiful girlfriend, had my favourite breakfast, pancakes with tabasco..." He said but I cut him off. "Wait tabasco?" I asked cocking my head to the side. Natsu nodded his head so fast I thought it was going to fall off.

He suddenly stopped and stared at me, I was starting to blush and turned my head only for Natsu to turn it back to him.

He kept his hand on my right cheek, his hand is so warm- wait! Right cheek?! Shoot he wasn't supposed to see. I tried to get out of his grasp but now his other hand is on my other cheek, the bruised one.

"Luce." He said slowly and carefully stroked my cheek right under my black eye. I flinched at his touch, even though he was so gentle it hurt like the moment I first receive it.

"What happened? Natsu asked his anger clearly growing. Now was the time to use my excuse, wait. What excuse? I still haven't thought of one. Crap, think Lucy, think.

"Oh this?" I said pointing to my eye. "Don't worry I just tripped on the stairs and hit the railing." Yes. Great one Lucy, he's bound to fall for it. Him being so dense and all.

"How dense do you think I am Luce?" He asked. Did he just read my mind? No, he couldn't have. It's impossible. Oh crap he's looking at me for an answer. "What do you mean?"

Natsu scowled at me. "I've been in plenty of fights Lucy, I k ow how you get certain injuries from. Including bruises and someone punched you, didn't they?" He asked. Dang he's good.

I turned away from the pink haired teen. "Do you not believe me? I'm your girlfriend Natsu, you should believe me." I didn't want to go to this as my answer but it was my only choice, besides telling him the truth.

"Of course I believe you Lucy, but if someone hurt you," He cracked his knuckles with anger on his face. "I'll destroy them." I love the fact that Natsu is so protective, it makes him seem less dense, less childish, and less everything he normally is. Yet I find it makes him even more attractive.

"Natsu-" I got cut off by the bell. "C'mon Luce, we're late for bio!" Natsu exclaimed grabbing my hand and dragging me inside the school, and the classroom.

'Bing' I shut my locker door and checked my phone. Clicking the button I saw it was from my pink haired idiot.

To: Lucy/The Girlfriend

'Hey sorry I can't walk you home. Got football practice. Love ya😘'

From: Natsu/The Boyfriend

Hmm. Well there goes my afternoon plans. I guess I could ask Levy and the other girls if they want to do a movie night. I haven't seen them in a while. Like since yesterday.

'K. I'll probably have a girls movie night have fun @ practice. Luv ya 2😘'

'Cool! Can I come?'

'What part of GIRLS movie night did you not understand?!'

Finally after our conversation, which was 10 minutes longer than expected, Natsu got in trouble for texting during practice and quickly said bye.

I decided to call Levy about my weekend plan for a movie night. I went to my contacts, found my friend and called her.
