"So, how do you feel you did on your exams ?" Edward asked me while driving me back home the next day.

After waking up on Edward's bed for the second time, we drove to school together while Alice drove hers with Jasper. Finals started with English and social studies in the morning, and finally ended with foreign languages.

"They were the easiest ones for me. I'm less confident about are Calculus and Biology tomorrow though. History should be easy." I answered.

"I'm sure you will do fine. Or, if you're really worried, I could bribe Mr. Varner to give you an A."

"Seriously ?" I asked, my voice lighting up. Edward laughed. "No, no, no ! No cheating." I said, changing my mind.

"I will wait for you to say the word."

"Hmm...thanks but no thanks." I sighed.

Edward parked in front of my house, next to my mother's car. Thanking him for the ride home, I undid my seatbelt and reached for my school backpack and the bag Alice had packed my stuff in for the sleepover, on the backseat.

"Don't come out. If my mom sees you when I told her it was a slumber party, she'll start thinking that we slept together." I warned him.

"Haven't you told her already that my kind doesn't sleep ?" Edward asked, playfully.

I rolled my eyes. "You know what I mean."

I opened the passenger door, sliding my arm into the handle of my backpack while carrying the other bag with my left hand. When I closed it, Edward rolled down the window and leaned towards the passenger seat, almost as if he forgot that I could hear him without having to do all this.

"I will come back tonight. There are some things I need to speak with Jasper first." Edward informed me.

"Seriously, have you felt a vampire's presence since two weeks ago ?" I asked, perfectly knowing the answer. "No. If you did, I would have felt it too. This seriously has to stop."

"I am aware that you are uncomfortable with us around..."

"Yes. I don't like the fact that you guys sacrifice your time for nothing. I'm pretty sure your family has more important things to do. And you too !"

"There is nothing more important than you in my life, Aiyanna."

I sighed and leaned towards the window as well, staring deeply into his eyes. "But I am not in theirs, Edward." I reminded him, my voice unconsciously becoming softer the more I looked at him. "I am not as fragile as you think. Trust me to take care of myself and please free your family from this stupid babysitting duty."

I could see in his expressions that he didn't agree with me. When Edward parted his lips to retort, I moved my hand in front of his face, stopping him from trying to fight back with me.

"Do not be fooled by the tone of my voice, it is not a plea but a command. That's enough." I added, with the same tone I used on the pack.

Edward's eyes narrowed, mirroring mine. An invisible war was taking place between my eyes and his, waiting for the loser of this battle to lay down its weapons. When Edward sighed, I knew that for once, he gave in.

I smiled proudly. The next thing I knew, my hand was captured by his, allowing him to approach his face to my palm in order to breathe in my scent with his eyes closed.

"Only if you have no objections with me staying by your side at night. Whether it is inside or outside, sitting on a tree, your floors or your bed, let me stay with you." he exhaled against my hand, looking up at me as he spoke.
