Kai

I sighed as I headed out of the library. These classes lasted for hours, but at least I didn't have time to be miserable.

What else was there to do? That was just a luxurious prison.

As I passed by my father's office, I heard yelling. It was faint, but I could hear something. I put my ear next to the door and tried to listen closely.

"Please! I never wanted her to come. She did it on her own!"

Cameron.

"You think I am going to believe you?" My father answered in a deep voice.

"Please, sir. I knew you had people watching me. Why would I do such a thing? I swear she came on her own"

Did Hanon visit him?

"What did she say to you?"

"She demanded answers about what happened with Ka-your son. I told her over and over that I had no idea, but she kept insisting"

"Is that all?"

"She threatened to tell the owner about some past mistakes and get me fired, but I still insisted I didn't know. She got mad and left after that"

"I see"

She threatened him? There is no way. Hanon wouldn't do that.

I felt lightheaded and a smile made its way onto my face just at the thought.

She got out of character for me?

But I quickly snapped out of it.

No, I wanted her to be okay. I didn't want her to be like this.

My father chuckled, "Useless girl. Good, then you're free to leave"

"Ah, wait a moment. Could I speak sith your son for a moment?"

"What do you want to say to him?"

"As you know, we were close before this. I just want to talk to him"

"Fine. Take him to Kai's room"

As soon as my father gave the order, I dashed upstairs. I was hoping they didn't hear me running, or maybe they assumed it was staff. I had enough time to go up to my room and get inside before they made their way here.

After about a minute, I heard a knock.

"Come in" I said trying to control my breathing.

So many stairs.

Cameron was pushed in and they closed the door behind him.

"Hi" He awkwardly greeted me.

"How's Hanon?"

"I'm good, just you know, being threatened and followed nearly every day. Thanks for asking"

I rolled my eyes, "Stop whining"

"Whining!? I fear for my life every day!"

"I told you nothing will happen. Even if it does, I will handle it. Now, how's Hanon?"

"She came by the café the-"

"I heard. Did she say anything about me?"

He shifted uncomfortably and looked down, "Oh no. Nothing"

"You're a terrible liar. Tell me"

My heart was pounding as I waited for the answer.

"She said she-um-"
