"Hey! This isn't so hard! Hongjoong! Come try my stew!" San beckoned to him with a broad smile as he hunched over the fire next to my mother.

She had been teaching San how to cook over the open flame and like a child, he held onto her every word. Excitedly following her directions as they worked on lunch. We had stopped riding about an hour ago with no sign of the others yet. Hongjoong had suggested to stop for a break and eat before we needed to keep going. I also thought maybe he wanted to wait to see if the others would be able to catch up.

He had been distracted since dismounting. Currently shuffling between camp and the perimeter watching the woods and the sky interchangeably. He ignored San, still watching the way we had come with a sharp eye.

"Y/N! Come try some!"

Ripping my attention from Hongjoong, I smiled at San who was happily dishing out some of the stew he had helped make. I took a seat across from them as he handed me a small bowl. I blew on it before lifting it to taste, not unaware of San's expectant eyes on me. It was delicious. Very similar to the stews I was used to at home.

"It's good." I grinned watching as San's own smile split his lips and his chest puffed out just a bit further.

I hid my giggle seeing how proud he was of his achievement. Throughout the meal, Hongjoong remained standing on the edge of the campsite. Tension was high in the makeshift camp, not only because of Hongjoong, but San too. I could tell despite his best efforts to keep things light; he was worried about the others. Heck, I was too even though I hadn't known them for very long. Someone nudged my side and shoved another small bowl full of stew under my nose. I took it from my mother, but before I could ask she nodded her head towards Hongjoong.

I stood and trudged over to him slowly, worried that he may not want to be disturbed, but my concern for his wellbeing outweighed any retaliation I would receive.

He hadn't eaten all day; the attack having come on so suddenly this morning that even I had only gotten a handful of bites out of the jerky Seonghwa had given me. As I came closer, I cleared my throat hoping to gain his attention. It worked for maybe half a second, long enough for him to flit his eyes to see who was behind him before looking back out to the forest.

"I brought you some stew."

"I'm fine. You should eat it. We still have quite the journey ahead of us and you'll need your strength."

Stepping up beside him, I picked up one of his hands and placed the warm bowl in it.

"I already ate. Besides, you should take your own advice sometime. I'm just riding the horse, you're the one directing her."

He sighed but accepted it. We stood in silence while he finished the bowl, both of us scanning the trees now, hoping the rest of the guys will come bursting through any second. No such luck though as Hongjoong grunted giving the bowl back to me and turning to the horses.
