"Everything is ready for the alacryan attack generals!" the senior captain in charge reported to us
"Understood, tell everyone to get some rest we'll need the whole army to be at its best" Alea ordered
Alea, Aya, Mai and I were currently at the border of the Elshire forest where the path charted by Circe began, in the command tent of the camp we established waiting for the alacryans to show up, this will be the biggest and by far most difficult battle ever since the war began
My thoughts started to go back to when we first discovered their plan wondering if we made the right choices, regardless of who will win this battle the casualties will be humongous and we already made a risky bet

"Alright let's begin this meeting, first Arthur any signs of alacryan movements in the Elshire forest?" Virion started the meeting
"None, it's still dead calm"
"Priscilla, Alduin any news from Aya or Varay?"
"Nothing father the situation at The Wall has been the same for the last 2 weeks" Alduin replied
"No reports from Varay" Priscilla added
"Dammit, it's been almost a month since they virtually disappeared from Elenoir and Sapin just what are they plotting?" Virion wondered
"COMMANDER, EMERGENCY REPORT FROM THE INTERCEPTION TEAM" one of the castle guards suddenly bursted in shouting
"What is it?" Virion asked
"We intercepted an alacryan communication stating that the ascenders were ready and they would soon move out, they assembled two forces headed respectively towards Elenoir and The Wall"
Dammit, I guess that at last Agrona lost his patience about this war
"Did you just say ascenders?" Virion questioned
"Yes sir"
"Dammit, how many ascenders and how many regular soldiers have they ammassed?"
"Virion wait before that explain to us who these ascenders are" Blaine practically demanded
"Ascenders are, with some differences, the alacryan equivalent of our adventurers, which means that just like our adventurers they're all mages and the worst part is that they're strong, very strong an ascender on the weaker end of the spectrum would be equivalent to a yellow core mage in terms of fighting capabilities" I explained and everyone in the room except Virion and Art paled
"What?! How come you never told us about them?" Blaine accused me
"Calm down Blaine, information about them was in one of the many reports he gave us years ago we never mentioned them simply because Agrona exempted them from the war but I guess he can't afford to do that anymore" Virion stated
"So all this time they weren't even serious in fighting us?!" Bunhd exclaimed
"More or less" I said
"Enough, you finish your report" Virion ordered addressing the guard
"Y-yes sir, according to the interceptions they have 2 armies each numbering more than one hundred thousand also another force has been formed with the soldiers previously fighting in the Elshire forest and at The Wall to invade Darv"
"How many of them are mages?" Art asked
"... all of them" the guard stated with a low voice almost whispering
