Chapter 17

Jade Leywin POV

We made our way to the backyard preparing for a spar Vincent wasn't surprised when he found out Art was a mage, I guess after knowing me it'll take more than that to surprise him

"Okay so how are we going to do this?" dad asked

"Mmm... it'll be a little unfair having Art spar against both of us one after the other" I noted

"Then I guess one of us will have to wait until tomorrow" dad remarked

"You can go first if want to dad" I told him

"You sure?"

"Yeah"

"Okay then"

Dad and Art took position 30 meters apart from each other in the courtyard as we sat down on the stairs in front of the backdoor

"Ready son?" dad asks Art for confirmation

"Ready"

"Here I come"

At this dad launches forward with his fire, after months of meditation dad managed to refine his fire into an orange colored one while it was nowhere even close to my fire it was still better than the red fire most fire mages used

Seeing dad's speed Art immediately activated [thunderclap impulse] and I did too in order to follow the fight, in less than a second dad cleared the distance separating them and threw a punch, Art used [piston stamp] to shoot himself to the side and threw a quick jab at dad with his lightning covered fist

Dad knowing he would get electrocuted if Art's fist touched him since I did that a several times quickly used his flames to back away

"So you're a deviant too, hah that's my son!" dad declares proudly

After this dad tries to launch himself at Art again but Art stomps on the ground and sends a boulder nearly twice his size flying towards dad

"Orya!"

Dad just smashes it with a punch, suddenly Art is beside him, Art used the boulder as a diversion to obstruct dad's field of view and circled around him

As Art's punch closes in on dad, dad chose to stay on the offensive rather than protect himself and throw another punch ar Art

Art quickly parries the punch while covering his arms in water then using the momentum of dad's punch pivotes on his right leg and throw a hook at dad

Dad tries to get away with another burst of flames but Art disrups them with wind magic keeping him in place as his fist slams into dad's side

"Oof"

Dad flies on the side but manages to reorient himself mid-air and lands on his feet

"HAHAHAHA, so you're quadra-elemental too?" dad laughs as he drops his fighting stance putting an end to the spar

"What do you mean too?" Art asks confused

"Jade, he's a quadra-elemental with all 4 deviants" dad explains

"All 4?! Woah I only managed to unlock ice and lightning, and my ice is still too unstable to be used in a fight" Art observed surprised

"I think that's still impressive brother" I comment as we all walked up to them

"I think both of you are unbelievable monsters" Lilia adds deadpanned

"You are probably right about that" I laugh

"That was impressive Art" mom compliments Art

"I think 'impressive' is quite the understatement but yeah I agree that was really impressive" Tabitha observes
