Bairon Wykes POV

"So how's the situation now?" Mica asked me

"Thanks to the reinforcement sent from the beast glades we're now able to hold the frontline and we now have the manpower to organise an operation to liberate the part of Darv that had been occupied by alacryans" I explained

Mica and I were currently in the command centre set up in Vildorial's royal castle, well I call it command centre but really it was just a room like the others, the only difference was that we installed here the artifact used to monitor and control the countless spy-golems Jade scattered across Dicathen, this one in particular was always set to check on the golems around Darv

Thanks to Jade's incredible results in the last 6 months the war situation changed quite a lot, before we could barely hold our ground here in Darv, relying on hit-and-run assaults to keep the situation in a stalemate and raiding the more unguarded tempus warps at most, now on the other hand we received a massive number of soldiers that were previously deployed in the beast glades, the reason for that was simple the Trailblazer unit was so astonishingly fast and efficient in clearing dungeons that all the other units were basically useless, while it would take on average from 3 to 5 months to clear a dungeon for a regular unit the Trailblazers took an average of 10 days, 2 weeks at most to clear a dungeon and the most impressive thing was that in 6 months they suffered zero casualties, due to this commander Virion decided to leave all operations in the beast glades to the Trailblazers boosting their numbers from 150 (between battlemages and support personnel) to 400 and disbanding all the other units sending the soldiers here in Darv where they were most needed, I can't believe a single boy joining the war changed the tides so much and I don't know if I should be glad, ashamed or both at his more than incredible results

"Great, now we received a report that an alacryan division is currently occupying a small village not too far from Vildorial, if they use it as a base for a surprise attack we will be in quite the tight spot" Mica informed me

"Then we'll have to deal with them as soon as possible"

"Mica thinks so too, which is why Mica already assembled a team of 30 elite battlemages, all yellow cores and above, for you to lead, they're waiting for you at the east gate" Mica told me

"I'm surprised you don't want to go yourself" I commented

"Mica would like to smash some alacryan skulls a lot, unfortunately Mica also understands that she's needed here to reassure the general population which had been restless due to Darv's current situation, Olfred's lack of public appearances and all these humans and elven soldiers stationed here"

"Mmh, very well then I'll leave matters here to you and depart immediately" I declared and marched out of the room

I quickly made my way towards the eastern gate, the guards bowing and moving to the sideways at my passage

I reached the eastern gate and rendezvoused with the troops waiting for me there

"Lance Bairon, it's an honor to be in this operation with you" one of the soldiers addressed me as everyone saluted

I observed the unit, it was composed of elves, humans and dwarves all wearing the same uniform and working for a common purpose, for the greater good, if 5 years ago anyone told me something like this would happen I would have probably addressed him as a traitor of the human race, I was so blinded by the foolish teachings of House Wykes

They always taught me that humans were the superior race and yet the elves were the only ones without a single traitor in their ranks, meanwhile almost a third of the humans "nobles" didn't hesitate to betray their homeland and their people, falling for the alacryans honeyed words and hollow promises
