"*Sigh*"

A sigh escaped my mouth as I signed another piece of paper and reached out to take another one, my eyes falling on the massive pile placed on my desk, it seemed that it didn't matter how fast I was or how many all nighters I pulled the amount of paperwork on my desk never diminished, if anything it only increased as the war went on

"It's precisely because I was tired of all this paperwork that I retired as a king, why the hell am I stuck here once again?" I asked myself

"Because my family and my country need me of course" I immediately found an answer

Although I seriously wonder if they really need me, no they don't, none of us in the Council is needed now, the only one Dicathen truly needs is Jade, that said if I can ease the burden on his shoulders even by just a little bit then I'll gladly skip a night or two of sleep

With renewed determination and vigor I reached for another report to examine it

*Bzz bzz*

My dimensional ring buzzed, I took out my communication artifact and looked at the caller

"Tessia?" why is she calling me now? she should be on a mission with the rest of her team

"Yes?" I answered the call

"GRANDPA! we've been attacked, two scythes appeared, Jade is fighting them right now, we need backup!" Tessia's panicked voice came from the artifact

"WHAT?!" did she just say two scythes?! even one would be disastrous but two?

"Two scythes! We need help NOW!"

"Alright you guys just think of reaching the closest city and use a teleportation gate to come back here at the Castle, I'll send help" I said and closed the communication

I took out the emergency call artifact, a special artifact that would automatically notify the closest Lance to my position to head here immediately, from my pocket and pressed the button on it calling Aya

"Commander! What's the emergency?" a split second later Aya bursted into my office

"Alea Triscan, Varay Aurae, Bairon Wykes!" I stated imbuing mana into my communication artifact and activating the emergency call function integrated in the artifacts issued to the members of the Council and the Lances

"Commander, what's the emergency?" their voices came out in unison from the artifact

"I have been notified that two scythes appeared, they are currently engaged in battle with Jade, the location is the slave traders's base he was attacking today, you are to head there as fast as you can and support him in the fight remember his survival is the top priority" I ordered, implying that everyone else present at the site would be expandable as long as Jade survived

It pained me to give such an order especially since after all these years I've come to see Aya and Alea as family but Dicathen cannot afford to lose Jade now, he is the core pillar of our strength if we lose him... I don't even want to think of such a scenario

"Understood!" the Lances replied and closed the communication

By the time I looked up Aya was already vanishing inside the portal of her tempus warp

I ran out of my office and headed towards the medical wing of the Castle, they need to be ready for everything, at the same time I activated my communication artifact once more and called Alice, she needs to know

I crossed the portal and arrived at Eidelholm, the closest city to the bandits' base Jade was attacking and waited for the others to arrive, despite the urgency it would be for the best if we went together
